Job description

The Sage US College Accounting Editorial Internship offers current accounting graduate students the opportunity to participate in temporary, project-based work by assisting our teams in developing assessment questions for our accounting titles.

Responsibilities:

  • Support digital resource and assessment development by preparing questions in Excel for online use using provided spreadsheets and the Cloze Question Builder (an Excel add-in tool). You will be responsible for setting up questions to include:
  • formulas that compute the answers accurately.
  • formulas applied to question data so that the data changes with the change of one number (“factor”) to build algorithmic versions of the same question, resulting in different answers than the original version. Formulas must be applied to ensure that data changes accurately related to accounting principles.
  • appropriate question structure, answer fields, and student notes so students can answer the questions in an auto-graded format.
  • accurate HTML tagging to both the question and solution using the Excel add-in so that it can be loaded into MBC.
  • 10 “factors” that can be used to build 10 suitable algorithmic versions.
  • Verify the accuracy of each question in MBC and make any corrections.
  • Load the underlying HTML code into MBC for the STAT (original version) and 10 algorithmic versions:
  • STAT and one algorithmic version are to be loaded for Sage to review before proceeding with the rest.
  • The remaining algorithmic versions will be loaded once the review is complete.
  • Provide final spreadsheets that include notes advising Sage of question status and any other meaningful notes, such as errors identified in the textbook or solutions files.

Schedule: This internship is a part-time (15-20 hours per week during regular office hours), paid position for one academic semester with the possibility of extending into future semesters and/or the summer based on the intern’s performance and continued interest. Interns may work remotely or from one of our two main offices (Washington, DC, or Thousand Oaks, CA).

Qualifications and Education:

  • Strong accounting knowledge (minimum bachelor’s degree in accounting).
  • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Able to analyze and interpret concepts, documents, and requirements.
  • Minimum 12-week commitment (15-20 hours per week, option to work more hours if mutually agreed).

If you have a disability and you need any support during the application process, please contact hr.resume@sagepub.com. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
