Ameresco has an immediate opening for a Front-End Developer with Accessibility Skills in our ASG (Asset Sustainability Group).

Our team is comprised of creative, multi-talented individuals with a general knowledge of fundamental concepts and a desire to learn and apply new technologies over time. We are seeking a skilled and passionate Front-End Developer with a strong background in accessibility and a passion for creating user-friendly and accessible applications. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of international accessibility application standards, compliance regulations, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a cross-functional team.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the team on developing and implementing a strategy to improve existing software code to enhance its functionality, performance, accessibility and maintainability.
• Lead the team in compliance with international accessibility standards Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and best practices and country-specific including Section 508 and ADA.
• Conduct accessibility audits and publish VPATS.
• Conduct usability testing and incorporate user feedback to improve accessibility and user experience.
• Refactor existing codebases to improve performance, maintainability, and accessibility.
• Collaborate with designers to implement responsive and accessible design principles.
• Write performant code, especially when dealing with large datasets and real-time data.
• Stay current with front-end development trends and evaluate new technologies.
• Integrate front-end applications with RESTful APIs to ensure seamless communication between front-end and back-end systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A degree from an accredited Computer Science or Information Technology program or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in front-end development.

Additional Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
• The ability to solve problems collaboratively in a virtual international team setting
• The ability to work independently to achieve defined goals
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Energy industry, asset management or service management knowledge would be a valuable asset.
• Proficiency in application accessibility standards.
• Experience with user research methodologies and usability testing.
• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks such as Ionic React, Angular, or Vue.
• Familiarity with design systems and component libraries.
• Ability to write performant code and optimize front-end performance.
• Experience with web-sockets, data streaming, and other real-time data methods.
• Experience in refactoring existing codebases to improve performance and accessibility.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and flexibility to adapt to changing technologies.
• Strong communication skills to articulate design concepts and decisions.
