The lab of Dr. Seth Weinberg, Biomedical Engineering, Davis Heart & Lung Research Institute, The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, seeks a Research Scientist.  The position will offer competitive salary and benefits.

The Research Scientist independently conducts, designs, manages, and performs computational modeling, simulations, and data analysis on research projects in cardiac cells and tissue, ion channels, and gene/protein expression; analyzes cardiac cell and tissue super-resolution and electron microscopy imaging data; uses finite-element method software to investigate cardiac tissue structure; designs cardiac tissue simulation protocols and analysis/visualization methods; prepares research results for publication in reports, papers, journals, books, tutorials, and other media.; presents research findings at national meetings and in other appropriate ways disseminates scientific knowledge to the research community; assist with lab management activities, including training of new members; develops and submits grant proposals of original research as principal investigator (PI); obtains significant research and salary support from external granting agencies; participates in determining research priorities and planning programs of research.

Qualifications

Required:  Doctoral degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field of study; 1+ years post-doctoral experience in cardiac physiology and computational modeling; author of several publications of substantial interest and value in high-end journals related to computational physiology, by presentation of papers to professional societies, contributions to new designs or techniques of material significance in the solution of important problems; experience in writing research proposals;

Desired:  Experience as PI or co-PI on research programs.
