Job description

Conservation Specialist (Part Time, As Needed) 

Western Nebraska

Ducks Unlimited, Inc. (DU) seeks a motivated biologist to help provide project delivery support for conservation efforts in western Nebraska and southeast Wyoming. This position will be on a part time, as needed bases, based upon project workload and available funding. This position will be a remote position with the Conservation Specialist needing to be located in western Nebraska or southeast Wyoming. Position will report to the Manager of Conservation Programs for Wyoming and Western Nebraska stationed in the Fort Collins, CO field office within the Great Plains Region of DU. The conservation specialist will participate in many phases of identifying, planning, designing, and delivering conservation projects.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site visits with private landowners, conservation partners, and state and federal agencies to identify and plan for the delivery of conservation projects.
  • Assist other biologists and engineers with oversight of project delivery.
  • Assist with the seeding and other management activities upon completion of a project.
  • Assist with other aspects of conservation projects as needed. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Wildlife Science or a related field 
  • 6+ months of experience in habitat management and restoration activities
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Ability to travel frequently and work effectively off-site including fieldwork in adverse conditions
  • Ability to safely lift 50 pounds

 

Benefits/Pay: Pay from $25-35/hr. based on experience and education. This position does not offer benefits.
