The Role:
Financial Post Data, a business unit of Postmedia Network Inc., is a leader in providing fundamental, corporate, securities and analytical information on private and publicly traded Canadian companies. We currently have an opening for a 12-week full-time contract FP500 Project Manager.
The position is ideal for individuals with a strong understanding of financial statements and fundamental accounting principles, familiarity with the Canadian stock market and corporate landscape, project management skills, good computer skills, and excellent English and communication skills. Successful candidates will join a productive team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Update our corporate database of financial, ranking and textual data covering the FP500 list of Canada's top companies
Interpret and prioritize data entry of key financial figures and names, positions and contact details of key company executives from annual reports, financial statements, websites and news releases
Research information on large private Canadian companies for database inclusion
Analyze and verify returned information from data forms returned by participating companies
Communicate with companies to solicit and/or follow up with data procurement and /or verification questions
Provide customer service by answering email and telephone enquiries from participating companies and following up on company requests
Qualifications:
Working towards a bachelor degree with relevant accounting courses
Sound knowledge of accounting principles
Familiarity with stock markets and the investment industry in general
Familiarity with Canadian companies and the marketplace
Proficiency in Microsoft PC applications, specifically Excel
Ability to work quickly and accurately in a demanding, deadline-driven environment
Organizational skills with excellent attention to detail of paramount importance
Good communication and writing skills
Good inter-personal skills
Completion of the Canadian Securities Program will be considered an asset
