Position Overview: This role will guide the AMSURG IT organization through establishing architectural direction and defining technology enablers that drive delivery of product and business solutions, focused on driving overall design for reuse, patterns of proactive, and scalable solutions. This leader will focus on understanding and applying existing, new, and emerging technologies to modernize, transform, and optimize IT and business operating models. The Sr. Director of IT Strategy, Solutions, and Innovation will help to define and drive overall IT Strategy, including acting as a relationship manager for key, strategic IT vendor relationships such as AMSURG’s Microsoft partnership. This role will also be responsible for leading the overall financial health and hygiene of the AMSURG IT organization, ensuring appropriate levels of cost optimization, annual budgeting, and day to day financial management. Additionally, this leader will be responsible for guiding the AMSURG IT organization in establishing and/or designing appropriate Centers of Excellence (CoEs), which might include CoE’s responsible for Innovation, Automation, and Process Optimization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Partner with IT leadership to identify and communicate long-term technology strategies and best practices and guide short-term projects and decisions to achieve long-term objectives and goals.
Oversee a team of high-performing technical professionals responsible for the architecture, selection, and design of technology solutions as well as the financial analysis and day to day financial management of the AMSURG IT organization.
Leads collaboration sessions with product and technology leaders to drive architectural direction that supports product capabilities and roadmaps
Leads the company through Technology Modernization by defining technology solutions tied to business goals
Leads the development of an implementation plan for the enterprise architecture based on business strategy and requirements
Understands disruptive forces in healthcare and technology as it relates to AMSURG’s economic and financial levers to effectively guide technology investment decisions
Facilitates business and IT alignment through a collaborative, supportive and consultative manner, helping to drive AMSURG’s digital business strategies and balancing innovation and growth
Leads the analysis of business and operating models, market trends and the technology industry to determine their potential impact on the AMSURG’s business strategy, direction, and architecture
Provides perspective on the readiness of the organization to change and innovate
Assesses disruptive forces impacting the organization and identifies technology-enabled innovation opportunities that enables business strategy
Leads analysis of the business’ future-state capabilities and future (and current) IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement to drive the business forward
Identifies organizational requirements for the resources, structures, and cultural changes necessary to support the enterprise architecture
Ensures the role of enterprise architecture in the project and product governance setting is one of guidance, advice, and oversight.
Presents gap analyses and IT investment roadmaps that contribute to future-state business capabilities around ecosystems and digital platforms
Leads analysis of the IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement
Leads the development of an implementation plan for the enterprise architecture based on business requirements and the varying IT strategies for project-driven or product-driven delivery teams
Researches, evaluates, and selects from existing and emerging technologies and solutions identifying the options best fitting business and IT strategic needs.
Work closely with leadership to ensure that Information Technology has goals that are aligned with and support broader Company objectives - both short term and long term.
Develop and enforce architectural standards and best practices within the department.
Lead the day to day financial management of the AMSURG IT organization along with the financial strategy of IT including efforts related to cost optimization, leveraging Enterprise agreements, and budget tracking and forecasting.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent experience
5+ years hands-on IT strategy and architecture experience
5+ years of team management experience. Strong organizational and talent development skills.
Proven ability to collaborate and build strong relationships with teams and customers, especially at the Executive-sponsor level
Excellent analysis and problem-solving skills.
Great communication skills. Established and professional communication, presentation, and motivational skills.
Familiar with best practices across all aspects of IT
Direct experience with management KPIs and analytics.
Must be able to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks effectively and efficiently while maintaining a professional, courteous manner.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
- Must be detail oriented and organized.
- High integrity, including maintenance of confidential information.
