Position Summary

The Department of Finance, Economics, Marketing, & Accounting invites applications for a full-time Associate Professor and Academic Program Director for Accounting in the College of Business, Engineering, and Technology. Rank is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong record in teaching accounting courses for a diverse student body and the ability to help oversee the department’s curriculum.

Faculty provide intellectual leadership toward achievement of the highest possible level of excellence in teaching, scholarship, service, and professional development. The Associate Professor will teach courses within a programmatic core discipline by engaging students, offering excellent feedback, and inspiring students to achieve course and program outcomes relevant to the core discipline. This position works closely with other faculty within the discipline including the Course Leads, Academic Program Director, Department Chair, Assistant Dean and Dean by contributing to programmatic strategies that ensure program quality, student engagement and success.

The Academic Program Director (APD) is a full-time faculty member who directs the strategy, operations and support for the degree program. As the primary spokesperson for all program faculty (part-time and full-time) and students, the APD will act as the primary source of information about specific programmatic strategies and daily operations as well as initiate and approve changes to assure program quality while driving student engagement and success. This position collaborates with program faculty as well as the Director of Assessment to conduct program assessments on a regular basis to ensure the program meets the needs of the students, and where applicable, the programmatic accreditation requirements. This position ensures the incorporation of identified trends or changes into the curriculum, in collaboration with the Director of Curriculum, and serves in either a direct or consulting role during course development, updating, and maintenance. The APD meets regularly with the College leadership (Associate Dean and/or Dean) to ensure that the program aligns with University and College goals.

Teaching

  • Teach and develop online or onsite courses in the following areas: Accounting and Business Administration.
  • Maintain pedagogical and subject matter expertise in the instructor’s field.
  • Create an inclusive and positive learning environment for diverse learners.
    • Ensure course and program practices align with compliance and accreditation standards.
  • Adhere to the National University’s academic integrity policy.

Scholarship

  • Maintain a productive scholarship agenda suitable to a teaching university.
  • Engage in scholarly activities to maintain professional growth.
  • Participate in professional development as outlined in faculty policies.

Service

  • Lead the strategy, operations, and support for the degree program.
  • Participate in curriculum oversight, shared governance, and the student experience.
  • Serve on committees at the program, department, school, college or/and university level and engage in community activities that promote program outreach and university goals.
  • Participate in program meetings and advisory boards to integrate best practices and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Terminal degree in Accounting, Business Administration (with a specialization in accounting), or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution required.
  • 5+ years of college-level teaching experience required.
  • Experience with the online delivery of higher education required.
  • 5+ years of practical experience preferred.
  • Certifications in accounting or a related field (such as a CPA or CMA) preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining curriculum preferred.
