The Vice President Global Commercial Officer (GCO) is a strategic leader who helps ensure the success of the business through implementation and continuous improvement of commercial processes at all levels of the organization, strategic analysis of key large deals throughout the world and representation of the company with large clients and in industry meetings.
The GCO is responsible for driving the company commercial strategy resulting in revenue and profitability growth. This role also ensures integrity and quality of the core services through implementing best practice, measurable, and repeatable processes that result in winning deals. This role provides leadership to Commercial Operations and Regional Bid Management teams and establishment of Global Commercial Committee charter, deal desk set-up as well as regular rhythm of business and processes for the GCC. The role will oversee the existing Vice President of Global Commercial Operations, as well as leaders of all regional commercial operations or bid management processes. Integral to the responsibilities of this role is ensuring collaboration with all functions to meet the required business objectives, including Finance, Legal, Operations, Construction, Investment and Sales.
The GCO also will provide strategic advice and support to the existing global investment team and global product team to support strategic site acquisition and development.
What you'll be doing
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drives the company commercial strategy, revenue growth, profitability, and customer engagement initiatives globally
- Establishes strategy for handling of commercial contracting globally, including deal structuring & critical business points for review
- Establish strategy and protocols for global large client management, including teams, processes, guidelines
- Responsible for commercial desk review regionally & globally of all major contracts and ensures commercial activities comply with international laws and regulations.
- Responsible for optimizing existing global commercial committee procedures; and
- Responsible for establishing and continuously improving commercial reviews in all regions
- Builds and maintains strategic relationships with key customers worldwide and addresses issues promptly and effectively
- Serve as key executive leader with regional MDs in managing large client transactions & relationships with clients
- Meets with clients to understand their key markets to structure partnership opportunities, including new market opportunities and geographic regions
- Provide strategic guidance on deal structures for large client and multi-building/pre-lease transactions and optimization of deals before presentation to the GCC
- Provide strategic guidance on build-to-suit transactions, including delivery of full site with full colocation services
- Assist existing site selection and real estate business & legal teams as needed to provide additional strategic considerations, deal structuring & opportunities for the Company
- Ensure in depth knowledge of all existing opportunities globally and assist the SVP Sales Strategy in determining key cross-regional opportunities
- Implement global standards for client success processes impacting large clients – such as customer on-boarding, feedback collection, solutioning, reporting on client success KPIs, and problem resolution
- Market Strategy Alignment: Oversee the development and execution of global market strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and market demands.
- Client Partnership Oversight: Collaborate with account management teams to foster strong, long-term relationships with key customers, including hyperscalers, enterprises, and government entities.
- Deeply understand the sales pipeline, clients and business globally
- Provide leadership and insight to terms across multiple regions with large global clients to assist in driving consistency and the best commercial outcome for the business
- Performs other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to oversee a commercial operations department that is comprised of diverse functions and teams
- Highly skilled in project management of complex projects requiring cross-organization coordination
- Able to independently research, organize, multitask, and prioritize work
- High level of quantitative skills including detail orientate
- Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry
- Proven track record for consistently meeting or exceeding goals and objectives
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Able to be highly confidential.
- Strong written communication skills, presentation delivery, and interpersonal skills to be effective in a team environment.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or another industry-related field; MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of industry-related experience including three years in upper management required.
WORK CONDITIONS
- This role is expected to be remote.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work across multiple global time zones (including but not limited to India, EMEA, APAC, US, Japan) is required for this position which will require work outside of normal work hours
- Global travel may be required to each region at least once per year with additional global travel as needed for global deals
This is a remote position that requires reliable internet connection and electricity. A monthly stipend is provided to cover expenses associated with working remotely and use of a personal mobile device, if applicable.
NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Base salary for this position is $302,400.00 - $432,000.00.
All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
