Description

Position Summary

The IT QA Manager (PMO) will lead the quality assurance (QA) efforts for various IT projects, with a focus on ensuring the delivery of high-quality software and IT services. This role involves planning, executing, and improving testing processes to ensure that all systems, applications, and processes meet or exceed business requirements and standards. The IT QA Manager (PMO) will collaborate closely with project teams, testing teams, developers, and business analysts.

In this role, the IT QA Manager (PMO) will be responsible for defining and maintaining testing strategies that align with the organization's business goals and technology roadmap. This role will serve as a key advocate for quality throughout the software development lifecycle, ensuring thorough validation and verification of all IT deliverables, including both project and operations. This position will also play a vital role in identifying opportunities to integrate automation and continuous improvement within the QA process, driving efficiency and scalability in testing practices. Additionally, the IT QA Manager (PMO) will focus on developing and improving comprehensive test documentation, as well as enhancing the overall QA framework and processes to ensure consistency and adherence to best practices.

Essential Functions and Duties

  • Develop and implement QA strategies, plans, and test cases for IT projects including software development, infrastructure updates, and application implementations.
  • Oversee all stages of testing (functional, performance, integration, regression, and user acceptance) ensuring the accuracy and reliability of testing outputs. In addition, ensure all operational changes have the required quality assurance oversight prior to production roll outs.
  • Work closely with project managers, business analysts, developers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure quality at every stage of the development lifecycle.
  • Identify, document, and track issues through to resolution, while working with the development team to ensure timely fixes.
  • Analyze QA processes and suggest improvements to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of testing and quality efforts.
  • Ensure that all projects and operational changes in production comply with internal quality standards, industry best practices, and any relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Lead efforts in test automation where applicable to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
  • Provide regular reporting on QA progress, defect metrics, and overall quality health of projects.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or a related field of study; or four (4) years of relevant experience in lieu of degree. 

Required Experience:

  • Minimum six (6) years [ten (10) years for non-degreed candidates] of experience in IT quality assurance, including hands-on experience with various testing methodologies.
  • Minimum two (2) years in a QA leadership role.
  • Proficiency in QA and development tools (e.g. JIRA, Silk, HP-ALM, Load and performance testing tools, etc.) and an understanding of software development practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an eye for detail and quality.
  • Excellence communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Knowledge of automation frameworks and tools for functional and non-functional testing.
  • Familiarity with IT infrastructure, cloud platforms, and enterprise applications (ERP, Data Analytics, etc.)
  • Healthcare and/or Supply Chain IT experience.

Required Skills:

  • Must have strong organizational skills.
  • Must be detailed oriented and have the proven ability to prioritize work.
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to work with limited supervision and as part of a team.
  • Must have sound decision-making abilities.

Professional Certification:

  • ITIL Certification preferred.
  • Relevant certifications such as ISTQB, CSTE, or equivalent QA certifications preferred.

Physical requirements

Vision, hearing, speech, and movements require the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Must be able to view a computer screen for extended periods and sit for extended periods. Incumbent(s) must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled. The employee occasionally lifts to 50 lbs. and occasionally kneels and bends. Must have the ability to travel occasionally. Working conditions include normal office and warehouse settings. After-hours support and weekend support as needed are requirements of the position

Must be able to pay close attention to detail and be able to work as a member of a team to ensure excellent customer service.
