About the Role:

The Vice President of Operations will play a pivotal role in driving the efficiency and effectiveness of Plume's core business operational functions. This executive leader will oversee Finance, Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), Legal, and Human Resources, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic goals and fostering a culture of operational excellence. While deep expertise in each area is not required, a strong understanding of interdependencies and experience in managing cross-functional teams is essential. The VP of Operations will report directly to the co-founders and serve as a key member of the executive leadership team.

Responsibilities:

Financial and Revenue Cycle Operations:
  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
  • Monitor financial performance, analyze key metrics, and provide insights for operational decision-making.
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) and Billing departments, ensuring efficient and effective processes.
  • Oversee all aspects of billing, coding, and collections to maximize revenue capture and minimize errors.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for RCM and billing to drive continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the resolution of escalated payor disputes and issues, fostering strong relationships with key payors.
  • Monitor and analyze trends in payor behavior and reimbursement policies.

  • Legal, Compliance, and People Operations:
  • Oversee legal matters, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, privacy laws, and other relevant legal requirements.
  • Develop and implement effective business compliance programs and mitigate legal risk.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of People Operations to ensure alignment between people operations strategies and overall company objectives.
  • Support the Senior Director of People Operations in fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring the effective management of all People Operations functions.
  • Serve as a key steward of the organizational culture, ensuring that all practices, policies, and programs reflect and reinforce our core values.

  • Contingency Planning and Business Intelligence:
  • Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive contingency plans to address potential operational disruptions.
  • Oversee the identification and analysis of potential operational risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Ensure regular testing and updating of contingency plans.
  • Champion the development and utilization of business intelligence (BI) capabilities to drive data-informed operational decisions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define BI requirements and ensure data accuracy and accessibility.
  • Drive the use of BI insights to identify operational efficiencies and areas for improvement.

  • Operational Excellence and Team Leadership:
  • Support the operational maturation of the organization holistically via common business operating frameworks and tools
  • Implement processes and initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall operational effectiveness.
  • Utilize data analysis to drive operational improvements and inform strategic decisions.
  • Lead and mentor direct reports, fostering a high-performance culture and supporting their professional growth.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration and communication to achieve operational goals.

  • Must-Have:
  • A strong understanding and appreciation of the trans experience. 
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in operations management, preferably in the healthcare or telehealth industry.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in financial management and RCM experience.
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in healthcare compliance and legal management strongly preferred
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing cross-functional teams.
  • A strong knowledge of legal and HR principles.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of healthcare compliance and regulations.
  • Experience with process improvement.

  • Nice-To-Have:
  • Prior experience in a growth-stage startup environment.
  • Prior business consulting experience.
  • Partnership and contracting experience between healthcare entities.
  • Experience working with mission-driven organizations.
