Job Title: Staff Accountant / Assistant Accountant (Remote from Mexico, Full-Time)

Location: Remote - Mexico

US Working Hours: 8:30 - 5:30 EST 1hr  lunch

Job Description:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations and assisting in payroll processing including commission and bonus calculations. This role supports the accounting department with daily operational tasks andassists in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and has a foundational understanding of accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the preparation of management accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with U.S. GAAP.

  • Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, including account reconciliation and balance sheet analysis.

  • Prepare and process group commissions and support payroll for U.S. employees and contractors.

  • Manage sales tax filings, state compliance, and other U.S. administrative tasks.

  • Assist in handling contractor timesheets, payments, and client billing.

  • Collaborate on process improvements to enhance financial operations.

  • Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.

  • Maintain and organize financial files and records, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.



Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant accounting experience in the USA, preferably in a corporate environment or public accounting firm.

  • It is essential that they have hands-on U.S. experience — not just with US GAAP, but specifically with tax and compliance — along with a background in drafting financial statements such as P&L and balance sheets.

  • We are looking for someone with direct experience in US tax and compliance(e.g. sales tax, nexus, business licence), as well as preparing management accounts.

  • Education: A major in Accounting, Finance, or a professional accounting qualification is preferred.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency with accounting software.

    • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including XLOOKUP, pivot tables, and data analysis.

    • Familiarity with U.S. GAAP and standard accounting practices.

  • Language Skills: Fluency in English.

  • Soft Skills:

    • Excellent english skills both written and verbal

    • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

    • Proactive and willing to take on additional tasks as needed.
