Reference Architecture Engineer

The Platform Engineer is responsible for product development and maintenance for the C3 Reference Architecture Platform, a cloud-native system design with associated configuration baselines and managed processes. Additionally, the Platform Engineer supports C3’s business operations by developing solutions for optimizing business efficiency through automation, integration, and documented process on the C3 Reference Architecture Platform. 

What You'll Do:

Platform Engineering (70%) 

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of the C3 Reference Architecture Platform product by designing, developing, testing, and documenting system configurations and new technologies 

• Deliver on-time scheduled releases of the platform’s configuration baselines in accordance with the product roadmap 

• Develop and maintain subject matter expertise on platform technologies, including Microsoft 365, Azure services, Intune, managed security tools, and other third-party services and integrations 
• Drive continuous improvement by soliciting and integrating feedback from clients via C3 personnel and internal service delivery stakeholders 

DevOps (20%) 

• Support business requirements by designing, building, documenting, and delivering solutions that drive optimized business efficiency through automation, integration, and documented process related to the C3 Reference Architecture Platform. 

• Work collaboratively with service delivery teams to automate the deployment and validation of the C3 Reference Architecture Platform through automation. 

• Train operational stakeholders and manage the handoff of delivered solutions and collaborate with operational stakeholders to support and maintain the usage of in-house developed solutions. 
• Mentor team members pursuing professional development in areas including automation, scripting, and infrastructure-as-code. 

Internal IT (10%) 

• Develop and maintain competencies on C3’s internal IT infrastructure, including Microsoft 365, Azure Entra ID, Intune, Azure services, security service edge, line-of-business applications, and endpoint security tools 

• Serve as an escalation point for complex IT issues 

• Backfill internal IT tasks and responsibilities as required

You are excited about a multidisciplinary role where you can work across cloud infrastructure, IT operations, IT service delivery, security, and compliance – collaborating across internal departments to make systems and processes better, faster, more cost-effective, and resilient. 

What You'll Bring

• Knowledge and passion for cloud-first architecture, including experience building and deploying systems in the Microsoft cloud
• In addition to the requirements stated above, experience with any of the following is a plus: Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK, ConnectWise, ServiceNow, configuration management (Saltstack, DSC, Chef, Puppet), or CI/CD tools
• Experience working in Microsoft GCC High and Azure Government
• Exposure to compliance requirements for the U.S. Defense Industrial Base (i.e., CMMC, DFARS, NIST SP 800-171)
• Relevant Microsoft certifications
• Academic degree, preferably in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or other relevant field 

• U.S. citizenship 
• 2+ years of relevant work experience as a Technical Writer, DevOps Engineer, IT Systems Engineer, or Developer with 5+ years of progressive experience in the IT industry 
• PowerShell and general scripting fluency
• PowerShell and general scripting fluency
• Extensive experience in configuring and deploying cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred) and Windows or Linux system administration
• Experience leveraging APIs to integrate platforms, including Azure Integration Services (Logic Apps, API Management services)
• Familiarity with software version control (Git, Azure DevOps) and infrastructure automation (Terraform, ARM templates)
• High level end-to-end understanding of IT systems design, deployment, configuration, and monitoring
