Job description

We are looking for a Head of Payroll Operations to lead and scale our payroll operations function as we continue to grow our innovative HR tech platform. You will play a critical role in shaping and operationalizing our global payroll infrastructure—partnering with internal teams, local payroll providers, and clients to ensure seamless delivery of automated payroll and global payments. This role reports directly to the COO and is best suited for someone with deep experience in HCM/HXM, global workforce management, and a passion for building scalable systems in a fast-paced startup environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the end-to-end payroll operations across multiple countries, ensuring compliance with local regulations and timely payments.
  • Build and manage relationships with Local Payroll Providers (LPPs) and other third-party vendors.
  • Design and implement global payroll processes and controls that are scalable, automated, and audit ready.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to optimize the payroll tech stack and integrate product features that enhance automation and client experience.
  • Support the development of new payroll products and services, contributing to the overall strategy for HXM and workforce management offerings.
  • Hire, mentor, and develop a high-performing global payroll team as we scale.
  • Stay current on global payroll trends, compliance issues, and innovations to ensure our platform remains competitive and compliant.

 

What You’ll Bring

  • 7+ years of experience in global payroll operations, including leadership roles at HR tech, FinTech, or SaaS companies.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling payroll operations in a startup or high-growth environment.
  • Deep understanding of international payroll compliance, tax regulations, and employment classifications.
  • Hands-on experience working with global HRIS/HCM platforms.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across functions.
  • Strategic thinker with an operational mindset and attention to detail.
