JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for identifying, qualifying, and supervising 3rd party cross dock and home/business delivery (Final Mile) solutions & establishing best practices for the entire logistics final mile network for all locations within Cabinetworks Group. Maximize efficiencies, identify cost savings measures, initiate/ monitor KPI's and maintain Vendor Compliance Requirements (Big box retail partners, and Dealers channel partners). Collaborate with Plant Logistics Personnel & Field Account Managers to identify, deploy and implement network solutions. Negotiate rates and service with 3PL providers.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Find the most cost and service competitive transportation solutions for cross docking and final mile outbound shipments.
  • Analyze and drive any network and vendor changes to meet value proposition to customers across all brands.
  • Manage tasks such as freight handling, minimizing freight claims through damage and loss, invoicing, annual budgeting, contract negotiation, & delivery route planning.
  • Identify root causes that contribute to failures, claims, and inability to achieve goals within KPIs to develop, implement, and command counter measures.
  • Assist 3rd party payment provider/ transportation management system with the freight payment process, review exceptions, along with utilizing their routing tools to the fullest of their capabilities.
  • Maintain and monitor all rate changes in master database ensuring that all updates are communicated accordingly.
  • Visit customers, carriers, and external cross docks as necessary for logistics projects and to assure expectations are being met by outside vendors; at times 50% - 75% travel will be required.
  • Participate in Kaizen and Six Sigma events focused on logistics cost reduction or service enhancements.
  • Responsible for rate, carrier, customer, and shipping program setup within our ERP platforms.
  • Completes other projects and responsibilities as requested by Logistics Leadership.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • 5+ years of transportation, logistics, and supply chain management experience
  • Understanding of all modes of transportation.
  • Ability to learn and utilize multiple ERP and transportation systems such as Oracle and Uni-data.
  • Ability to relate to individuals at all levels of the organization and maintain ethical relationships with outside vendors.
  • Firm ability to negotiate and strong ability to hold 3PL responsible to expectations.
  • Ability to work cross functionally with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated proactive analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Project/Process implementation (able to implement a project/process from start to finish site specific).
  • An understanding of the company manufacturing, operation processes, logistics and the value stream proposition.
  • Clear direction, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, logistics, transportation, supply chain or related field.
  • Experience working in or with a manufacturing industry such as office furniture or cabinet manufacturing.
  • Experience working in or with parcel, home delivery, and or courier final mile management.
  • Experience within a 3PL (Third Party Logistic or Supply Chain Consulting firm).
  • Experience of 5+ years in a leadership role managing carriers with a strong preference for final mile carrier management.
