THE JOB

The Communications Director will oversee the planning, organizing and implementation of national communications initiatives that support the business objectives for clubs, theaters and amphitheaters in Venue Nation’s diverse portfolio. The Communications Director will be responsible for developing both internal and external communications strategies by building media relationships, drafting compelling copy, responding to incoming media inquiries, monitoring coverage and seeking proactive opportunities to share our story.

WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO

  • Develop communications strategies in support of key division wide initiatives.
  • Manage multiple facets of communications programs including media outreach, messaging, campaign execution and reporting.
  • Oversee internal communications initiatives that inform and inspire internal audiences.
  • Identify new opportunities to build and maintain media relationships.
  • Identify, support and manage external efforts to advance the mission of the division through speaking engagements, events and media partnerships. 
  • Develop foundational messaging that can be applied to communications materials including talking points, presentations, website copy, pitches and media alerts.
  • Develop processes and SOPs that improve the communications function to better serve the division.
  • Review communications materials for alignment with division objectives and brand voice.
  • Direct the day-to-day functions of communications staff and provide training as needed.
  • Monitor and respond to incoming media inquiries, providing real-time coverage for inbound inquiries, coordinating and drafting responses.
  • Support special projects that contribute to Venue Nation’s business objectives.

WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, PR, Journalism, or Writing strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in communications or in the entertainment industry required, emphasis on media relations, internal communications and digital communications strongly preferred. 
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills; demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information and present it in a clear, concise and conversational manner.
  • A strategic thinking with proven experience of delivering results with impact.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and adapt to rapidly changing business needs.
  • Positive attitude and high value for collaboration and team work.

The expected compensation for this position is:

$124,000.00 USD - $155,000.00 USD

** Pay is based on a number of factors including market location, qualifications, skills, and experience.
