Job description

Saaf Finance is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Document & Data Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of residential mortgage documents, particularly those associated with fix & flip loans, and the ability to accurately identify and categorize these documents. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of loan files & loan data to support underwriting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Document Identification: Accurately recognize and classify various types of residential mortgage documents, especially those associated with fix & flip loans, such as:
    • Loan Applications & Term Sheets (e.g., Uniform Residential Loan Application)
    • Credit Reports & Credit Authorization
    • Identification & Background Checks
    • Income Verification Documents (e.g., W-2s, pay stubs, tax returns)
  • Validation & Data Entry: Validate and enter data from residential mortgage documents into our systems, ensuring high levels of accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • System Support: Assist in the development and enhancement of our document processing systems by providing feedback on document recognition and data extraction processes.
  • Training & Development: Train and mentor junior staff on document recognition and data entry procedures, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in recognizing and categorizing residential mortgage documents.
  • Strong data entry and verification skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Familiarity with mortgage industry regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with RTL mortgage underwriting is a plus.

Requirements

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in the mortgage industry, specifically in data extraction or data validation roles at one or more of the following types of companies:
    • OCR or AI data extraction company
    • Due diligence or Third Party review firm
    • Quality control firm
    • Data validation department at a large US bank
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in document management, including scanning, indexing, and archiving.
  • Experience with optical character recognition (OCR) technology and data visualization tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data sets, generate insights, and present findings effectively.
  • Proven track record in performing quality assurance checks on documents and data. Ability to identify and rectify errors, ensuring high standards of accuracy and completeness.
