The Role

Lumen is searching for a Software Engineer I to join our development team supporting our suite of billing applications.  This engineer will partner in an agile team environment to design, develop, code, test, and debug new software or enhancements to existing software.  Develop solutions across many disciplines and be responsible for explaining solutions and procedures.  Apply principles, theories, and concepts and use methodologies, tools, documentation processes, and test procedures to complete projects.

Location

This role is a fully remote position within the United States.

The Main Responsibilities
  • Partners in an Agile Scrum team environment to design, develop, code, test, debug, and support in production of new software or enhancements to existing software
  • Works closely with business partners and technical staff to create solutions that meet business and technical requirements
  • Collaborates with product developers in a fast-moving agile team to define and implement effective and efficient automated tests
  • Documents own work to promote transparency and reuse
  • Builds unit test cases, debugs integration issues, and deploys emergency patches as needed
  • Builds production-quality enterprise-grade systems that achieve target SLAs for scalability, reliability, and performance
  • Actively participates in the code-review process
  • Prioritizes and handles multiple concurrent projects and efforts
  • Makes clear, specific commitments to deliver results on schedule
  • Accountable for successfully completing assignments or tasks on schedule
What We Look For in a Candidate

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of professional experience or/ and bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience (Computer Science or similar is preferred)
  • Working knowledge of software development methodologies, standards, and coding best practices
  • Experience with development languages including SQL, PL-SQL, Unix/Linux shell scripting
  • Experience with database management packages including Oracle, MS-SQL Server
  • Experience using business applications including MS Office Suite, MS Project, MS SharePoint
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines
  • Highly motivated, organized, reliable, and detail-oriented
  • Quick learner and not afraid to work with new technology
  • Strong problem-solving, time management, written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with code versioning tools such as TFS, GitHub
  • Experience in telecom billing and/or account receivables is a plus
  • Experience application development in the Cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP).

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

Location Based Pay Ranges:

$55,313 - $73,750 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY.
$58,078 - $77,438 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI.
$60,844 - $81,125 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
