Job Overview
TE Connectivity’s Product Engineering Teams optimize existing products from information or input provided by marketing, customers, Operation Teams, Development Engineers or other employees. They maintain existing products, processes, and specifications including modifications for new applications consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies. They also initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, and cost, while meeting customer requirements and may support and implement product extensions to existing platform products to meet specific customer requirements. They are the key experts in the products they are responsible for at TE.
Responsibilities
High Speed IO (SR Position)
Responsible for being the FAE product expert for of high-speed connectors, cages, and cable assemblies from market definition through production and release. This position must have complete knowledge of the Global Product Line (GPL) portfolio, tooling, and manufacturing processes. This engineer must be able to advise on product extensions, additional feature modifications, and alternative interconnector solutions within DDN’s portfolio.
Power
Responsible for being the FAE product expert for the power connectors, bus bar,s and cable assemblies. from market definition through production and release. This position must have complete knowledge of the Global Product Line (GPL) portfolio, tooling, and manufacturing processes. This engineer must be able to advise on product extensions, additional feature modifications, and alternative interconnector solutions within DDN’s portfolio.
ICC
Responsible for being the FAE product expert for the Internal Connector and Cable Assemblies, from market definition through production and release. This position must have complete knowledge of the Global Product Line (GPL) portfolio, tooling, and manufacturing processes. This engineer must be able to advise on product extensions, additional feature modifications, and alternative interconnector solutions within DDN’s portfolio.
Responsible for product development of high-speed cable assembly, power connector, and power cable assembly solutions from market definition through production and release:
Work closely with the customer and TE sales/SA/FAE/PM in getting the right and clear VOC (voice of customer) and convert to a TE design conceptualization and preliminary product specification.
Conceive concepts and perform feasibility studies.
Run mechanical and thermal simulations.
Make the engineering evaluation/proposal to the customer.
Create the detailed design, including 2D/3D drawings, and perform DFMEA/tolerance analysis.
Build prototype samples and perform validation.
Provide technical support to the Operations team, including Quality and Production, for efficiency improvement and safe launch.
Resolve product-related issues to closure and manage the ECN/PCN (Engineering Change Notification/ Product Change Notification).
Build a deep understanding of the market and customer needs by fostering a connection between the business engineering teams and the customer engineering teams
Maintain a system-level understanding of the customer application and the product design/concept necessary for providing a solution to the customers’ expectations.
Provide technical support to customers, sales, PM, and plant teams. Conduct necessary DFMEA, tests, engineering analysis, troubleshooting, shooting, and verification.
Work with global manufacturing resources, procurement, and outside suppliers to meet all TE technical, quality, and cost objectives.
Execute technical documentation to fully detail design drawings and requirements, engineering and product change notices, and design history files.
What your background should look like:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience
- 5 years of relevant mechanical engineering work experience with electrical components, electrical devices, mechanical structure design, manufacturing tooling development (stamping, molding, assembly), or manufacturing process development
- Knowledge in socket design, connector design, or other relevant mechanical design and development.
- Familiarity with switch and or server equipment.
- Knowledge in relevant mechanical design and development, including but not limited to, material selection,
- tolerance analysis, DFMEA, product qualification, etc.
- Proficiency in 3D Design Applications (such as ProE or Spaceclaim)
- Basic knowledge of raw materials, industry standards, and product applications
- Basic knowledge in manufacturing process (machining, molding, stamping, plating, assembly, etc.)
- Familiarity with quality tools (FMEA, 6sigma, DOE, 8D, etc.)
- Ability to work in a global environment – able to accommodate varying time zones and capable of collaborating
- with individuals across geographies.
- Open-minded, coachable, willing to learn new skills, and motivated to grow.
- This role emphasizes designing products that align closely with customer requirements, maintaining a proactive customer service mindset throughout the development process.

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $100,200 - 150,300 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
