Position Overview:

Reporting to the Vice President of Project Development, the Aspen Power Interconnection Coordinator will be the central hub for utility interconnections within the company.  They will be responsible for staying abreast of market requirements, consolidating information from internal departments, and making and monitoring the status of interconnection applications and agreements.  In addition, they will be responsible for forecasting, budgeting, and ensuring that interconnection deposits and payments are made in a timely manner.  They will use their expertise to educate stakeholders on utility requirements and collect and maintain all required records.  This role will work closely with the internal departments to drive interconnection process improvements with utilities across the enterprise.

Responsibilities:

  • Builds and maintains key relationships with utilities and TDSPs.
  • Preparation and maintenance of Interconnection Requirement libraries and contact lists.
  • Maintains a body of knowledge on potential or forthcoming changes to interconnection requirements, pending legislation, and interconnection timelines that impact Aspen’s business plans.
  • Leads regular meetings between Aspen and the utilities and TDSPs to maintain timelines.
  • Produces key inputs and updates to weekly reports detailing the status of all interconnection applications, budgets, interconnection agreements, and closeout processes, as they relate to project interconnection.
  • Identifies areas for improvement with internal interconnection processes, works with internal stakeholders to develop changes to internal processes, and works with Aspen Management to implement desired changes.
  • Trains other departments on the various requirements for interconnection in Aspen markets (e.g., specifics on required equipment and drawing details, system monitoring and control requirements, payment directions and timing, easements and rights of way).
  • Coordinates with Origination, Project Development, and Engineering departments to ensure that interconnection applications accurately reflect the appropriate entities, point of common coupling, type of interconnection requested, and minimum design specifications.
  • Preparation and submission of interconnection applications and coordination of design package drawings.
  • Coordinates with Project Development and Legal to ensure that appropriate real estate rights have been obtained.
  • Coordinates with Engineering to ensure that modifications to designs are incorporated into the interconnection application.
  • Coordinates with Preconstruction to ensure that the appropriate equipment is being incorporated into construction drawings and scopes of work and that budgets accurately reflect expected interconnection costs.
  • Coordinates with Construction to close out interconnection applications and agreements, scheduling of witness test(s) and PTO.
  • Forecasting, payment, and monitoring of interconnection deposits, payments and post-construction reconciliations
  • Monitoring of inbound interconnection email traffic through Aspen’s interconnection email address and coordination of necessary responses and distribution of information as necessary.
  • Engages with internal stakeholders proactively to ensure required utility documentation is received in a timely manner to remain ahead of construction schedules.


Qualifications:

Must be passionate about the renewable energy business, hardworking and thrive in the fast pace of a rapidly growing company. In addition, the candidate must possess:    

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 2 years experience in the solar industry or equivalent
  • Knowledge of interconnection protocols
  • Experience with process transformation and optimization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of current local Utility and AHJ regulations 
  • Self-sufficient and highly motivated 
  • Physical Demands
  • Ability to perform normal office duties
  • Ability to operate office equipment including computers and determine accuracy of work 
  • Ability to interact and participate in meetings
