The Privacy and Regulatory Paralegal supports the legal and compliance matters regarding privacy, cybersecurity, Medicare Advantage and supplemental health insurance regulations for Clear Spring Health. This includes monitoring new regulations, published guidance, and enforcement actions. Works under the supervision and direction of both the Chief Legal Officer and the Compliance Officer.
 

You will have the opportunity in this role to:
 

  • Conduct Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct research on emerging laws and regulations, independently identify relevant provisions, conduct analysis, review documents, and provide guidance to key stakeholders to support compliance efforts relevant to Clear Spring Health’s Medicare Advantage and Supplemental Health Insurance lines of business.
  • Report Monthly Compliance Updates: Develop monthly compliance updates for business stakeholders and senior leadership related to privacy, data security and supplemental health insurance.
  • Develop Impact Assessments: Assist in developing privacy-related legal impact assessments to identify and mitigate privacy risks by using legal databases and other external resources.
  • Build Training and Awareness: Assist in developing and delivering privacy training programs and awareness initiatives for employees and updating policies and procedures on an annual basis and as necessary to comply with applicable regulations. ( PHI, HIPAA, PII )
  • Project Management: Manage various project trackers on a regular basis regarding privacy and supplemental health insurance, create follow-up reports, and share with the key stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This is a full time remote position with a preferred work from home base in the greater Chicago area, Charleston, SC, or Waltham, MA.

You will bring with you:

  • 5-7 years’ experience in a corporation or a law firm as a paralegal or legal assistant, preferably supporting Privacy, Cyber, Regulatory, Medicare and health insurance matters.
  • Associate’s degree required or Paralegal Certificate, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Prior experience using SharePoint is required
  • Familiarity with legal databases like Bloomberg, LexisNexis, etc. for legal research.
  • Demonstrated success managing projects using strong attention to detail, good judgment, and exemplary organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Curiosity in learning (or deepening understanding of) Privacy, Cybersecurity, Regulatory and Health Insurance laws.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams) required.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $90,000/year in the lowest market up $110,000/year in our highest geographic market.  Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
