Intern, Scientific Communications

What You’ll Do

Are you passionate about supporting our Scientific Communications Team as they distill and translate complex clinical and scientific data to support pharmaceutical product development? In this role, you will directly support the team as they help our biopharmaceutical clients realize the full potential of their compounds in the oncology marketplace. In addition, this role will interact with our cross-functional partners on accounts within our Client Services, Medical Strategy, Editorial, and Creative departments.

A Day in the Life

Deliverables

• Researching and accurately tracking key opinion leader (KOL) information using multiple online resources and Microsoft excel
• Developing faculty bios
• Organizing and adding to a repository of our deliverables
• Fact-checking internally developed content using original sources
• Accurately transferring key information from submitted faculty information to PPT slides
• Tracking responses to and developing transcripts from Slack-based conversations

Client Responsibility

• Accurate notetaking during internal meetings
• Linking references for external compliance review

Internal Responsibility

• Routing content through our project management software to/from other departments (and helping address changes once comfortable with various project types)
• Organizing files using our cloud-based system
• Managing EndNote libraries, as well as internal reference libraries

Business Development

• Ensures that work is of the highest quality and instills confidence for clients
• Begin to develop an awareness of the work’s impact on overall business strategy

Other duties may be assigned to help drive deliverables within this role.

What You Must Have

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field
• A desire to learn about medical communications, ask questions, and collaborate
• Careful attention to detail

Skills and Competencies

• Strong interest in the life sciences
• Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively in a dynamic, virtual environment
• Excellent interpersonal, organization, verbal, and written communication skills
• Highly proficient with the following computer programs and systems: MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Zoom (or other similar systems), and cloud-based file servers, calendars, messaging systems. Experience with software-based project management tool a plus
• Ability to prioritize and plan work activities and use time efficiently in a remote work environment
• Ability to meet tight deadlines
• Receptivity to constructive feedback

What You Might Have, but Isn’t Required

• ≤1 years’ experience working in medical communications 
• Interest in technical project management work

Travel Requirements:

• Travel within the US and internationally as necessary, based on organizational needs (<5% travel expected)

You will work closely with the Scientific Communications team and partner with the Client Services, Medical Strategy, Editorial, and Creative departments.
