How You will Contribute:

Ciena is seeking a dynamic and analytical Senior Analyst, FP&A International to join our finance team. This role is crucial in supporting our international financial planning and analysis activities, providing accurate financial insights, and driving informed decision-making across our global operations

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in providing financial support to the regional Franchise Sectors including Orders/Revenues and Margins (ORM).
  • Support the business unit & Franchise region leadership as a reliable Business Partner.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the operational & financial aspects of the Services business.
  • Collaborate with business leaders in preparing annual budgets and quarterly forecast outlooks for areas of support (in line with corporate calendar budget cycle requirements).
  • Assist in providing monthly and quarterly financial results packages for business leaders; this includes helping to identify variances to plan (risks/Opportunities and recommendations for improvement).
  • Help in forecasting the Services Financials, both short-term and long-term.
    • Short term – Current Quarter/ In-Year
    • Longer Term – Operating plan/Strategic Plan
  • Assist in providing Revenue/Margin Guidance to all regions based on collaborative analysis and modeling. Understand and challenge any differences in financial views.
  • Provide support in ad-hoc tasks including P&L analysis by customer, Mavenlink reporting, Loaded Labor Rate (LLR) calculations/support, business case support, Cost Reduction (CR) tracking/analysis, monthly cost center approval process, ensuring allocation methodologies are accurate and current, and general financial guidance as needed.
  • Use data visualization tools like PowerBI to assist in in-depth analyses, identifying trends, patterns, and outliers.
  • Use data visualization tools to present complex information in a visually appealing and understandable manner.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into actionable insights.
  • Suggest improvements to existing processes and methodologies.
  • The individual will support change within the Services organization and the FP&A team.

Experience

  • Prior experience as a financial data analyst in an IT Service delivery environment.
  • Experience with accounting systems (ie. PSA, Hyperion, Anaplan), Salesforce, and other budgetary software.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like PowerBI.
  • Capability in creating effective data visualizations, utilizing various tools and techniques.
  • Experience using machine learning algorithms is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration or a related field. Technical skills with experience in ETL, data modeling, and visualization/dashboard development.
  • Two plus years of financial experience in an IT Service delivery environment.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with financial/ERP systems (Anaplan and Hyperion) and Microsoft office products.
  • Ability to monitor financial discipline and accountability within a support organization.
  • Adaptable, able to handle multiple tasks with supervision.
