About the Position:
An ideal candidate for the Consultant position in DRS’s Public Entity Practice will have a solid background in FEMA Public Assistance (PA) policy, processes, and procedures. The candidate will provide knowledgeable support to complex FEMA PA projects, including disaster recovery, hazard mitigation, and emergency management projects utilizing federal, state, and local funds. The Consultant will be responsible for supporting the Public Entity Practice strategy in relation to the overall business strategy as directed by the Public Entity Managing Consultant and/or the Project Executive.
Key Responsibilities:
Support clients with federal, state, and local grant PA projects, with an emphasis on cost support and recovery
Deliver exceptional PA consulting to state and local governments, K-12, higher-ed, and private non-profit clients
Recommend best-practice preparedness and recovery procedures under the direction of the assigned Managing Consultant and/or Project Executive
Develop Damage Description Dimension documents, Scopes of Work, Benefit Cost Analyses, Project Worksheets, and responses to Requests For Information under the direction of the assigned Managing Consultant and/or Project Executive
Support the client both remotely and on-site throughout the recovery process as requested by the Managing Consultant and/ or Project Executive
Participate in project calls with clients as requested
Report on project-related metrics as requested
Provide onsite disaster recovery support as requested by the client
Cultivate and manage positive relationships with client leadership and staff
Ensure compliance with engagement risk protocols
Participate in prospective client webinars and meetings as requested
Represent DRS at professional conferences, as needed
Develop continuous subject matter expertise in disaster preparedness, mitigation, and recovery trends and initiatives
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in disaster recovery sector
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in business, finance, public administration, emergency management, or related discipline
Current professional certifications such as CEM, or related certifications, are a plus
Exceptional communication skills
High energy style, flexible and adaptive, with the ability to work well in a very fast-paced environment
Ability to adapt to complex client environments and situations
Proven track record of effectively supporting the FEMA Public Assistance process
Excellent written communication skills, self-directed with the preparation of client-ready document and presentation development
Articulate, persuasive communicator who is adept at handling challenging audiences well, including the ability to adapt style to audience
Work Location:
This position is a remote work experience with travel required to be at client sites as the projects dictate.
Salary Transparency:
Disclosure required under applicable state or municipality regulations: The expected salary range for this position is $100,000-$150,000 with a discretionary bonus and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience, and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope, and level.
