Role & Responsibilities:

  • Leads, performs, coordinates and monitors all functions as they relate to the Coding and Data Integrity Unit.
  • Includes staffing analyses, conducting orientation and training of new staff, and assures competency of staff.
  • Develops policies and procedures for the coding process. Identifies areas for improvement to support optimal coding efficiency and operations.

Education & Credentials:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Administration and active RHIA OR, Associate Degree in Health Information Technology OR active RHIT and/or Certified Coding Specialist accreditation through the AHIMA.

Experience & Skills:

  • Three to five years of related experience in a lead role in a highly progressive acute care setting as well as having experience with training, quality improvement, compliance and record keeping.
  • Requires advanced verbal and written communication skills to facilitate communication with physicians, clinicians, department personnel as well as outside vendors.
  • Requires an ability to lead a team of technical staff, creatively solve problems, write reports and deal with tight deadlines.
