SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Director of Learning and Development is responsible for improving the knowledge, skills and productivity of the organization's employees. This individual assesses company-wide developmental needs to drive training initiatives and identifies and arranges suitable training solutions. In addition, this individual will partner with multiple departments to help identify, create and arrange suitable training solutions. This role actively searches, creatively designs, and implements effective methods to educate, recognize and enhance employee performance.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for the managing, coaching and mentoring of 29th Street’s Training Managers.
  • Consult with and support business units/departments, Operations and Human Resources to identify, plan and implement resource selection, training and development requirements as driven by the performance needs of the organization.
  • Research, design, implement and maintain standardized, comprehensive training and development programs and documentation based on identified organizational and affiliate needs, changes in culture, products, policies, procedures and services.
  • Continually explore and integrate innovative digital learning solutions, including mobile, on-demand and gamified learning, to enhance accessibility and engagement.
  • Provide training to all levels of the organization as identified and requested by the training team.
  • Negotiate contracts and purchasing of all training programs and resources.
  • Lead development and deployment of training for all new initiatives.
  • Responsible for management of LMS and maintenance of all training resources, company policies and procedures.  
  • Design, develop and instruct curricula (classroom/ or On-the-Job (OJT)/Mentorship) utilizing instructional design techniques, including use of learning objectives, lesson plans, teaching aids and assessment materials.
  • Analyze performance measures to identify training opportunities and assess the impact of training.
  • Design, develop and deliver content as required for annual leadership conference non-site leadership meetings.
  • Maintain a training inventory, schedule courses, and develop course outlines, manuals, training aids and documentation.
  • Identify, develop, and monitor resources required to assist in the classroom and/or on-the-job training process.
  • Administer and maintain various contracts and programs from outside training service providers.
  • Ensure that learning strategies align with the company’s vision, values, and strategic initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and service excellence.
  • Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and influence business results.
  • Develop an annual and monthly budget for the L&D department to ensure expenses are being tracked and monitored.
  • Partner with the HR Department to continue developing a successful employee onboarding process.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% is required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field is preferred.
  • Five years of experience designing and implementing employee development and training programs in the multi-family housing industry.
  • NAAEI AIT – Advanced Instructor Training Certification preferred but not required.
