Where you come in
Elevate is embarking on an exciting transformation journey from a non-tech company to a
product-led organization where our technology will become a primary revenue driver. This is a rare
opportunity to help shape the future of our engineering culture, practices, and products.
As one of our first in-house engineering hires, you'll work directly with our Head of Engineering to
enhance and evolve our existing Ticket Management platform. This platform is already operational
and selling thousands of tickets daily, powering our ticketing business and enabling clients to
maximize revenue through intelligent pricing, distribution, and sales analytics. You'll focus on
building robust, scalable backend services and APIs that power our ticket distribution, pricing, and
marketplace integrations.
What You'll Bring
- Backend Engineering Expertise: 5 years of experience building scalable,
high-performance backend systems and APIs
- Python Proficiency: Strong experience with Python and web frameworks like FastAPI,
Flask, or similar technologies
- API Design Skills: Experience designing intuitive, well-documented, and performant
RESTful APIs
- Cloud Native Development: Experience building applications on AWS using services like
Lambda, ECS, API Gateway, SQS, and Aurora PostgreSQL
- Database Knowledge: Proficiency with both relational PostgreSQL and NoSQL database
systems
- Integration Experience: Track record of building and maintaining integrations with external
APIs and services
- System Design: Ability to design resilient, scalable architectures that can evolve with
changing business needs
- Product Engineering Mindset: Understanding that technology exists to solve customer
problems and create business value
- Problem-Solving Approach: You start with understanding the problem deeply before
jumping to solutions
- Experimentation Mindset: You value learning through rapid experimentation and embrace
a "progress over perfection" approach
- Outcome Orientation: You measure success by business impact and customer
satisfaction, not just by features shipped
- Communication Skills: Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to both technical and
non-technical stakeholders
- Agency Experience: Experience working effectively with development agency partners is a
plus
- Ticketing Experience: Background in ticketing systems, secondary marketplaces, or
similar transactional systems is a plus
How You'll Make An Impact
- Build Scalable Services: Design and implement backend services that enable reliable
ticket distribution, pricing, and marketplace integrations
- Develop API Platform: Create a robust API layer that powers both our frontend applications
and external integrations
- Optimize Performance: Continuously improve system performance, reliability, and
scalability as transaction volumes grow
- Establish Technical Standards: Help define coding standards, architecture patterns, and
development practices for backend systems
- Integrate with Marketplaces: Build and maintain integrations with secondary marketplaces
like Ticketmaster, SeatGeek, StubHub, and others
- Enable Data-Driven Decisions: Implement instrumentation and monitoring to provide
insights into system performance and user behavior
- Solve Real Customer Problems: Work directly with product managers and stakeholders to
understand problems and validate technical solutions
- Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with frontend engineers, product managers, and
agency teams to deliver cohesive solutions
Your Journey: First 90 Days

Why This Role Matters Now

- Autonomy and Ownership: Lead with significant autonomy while owning outcomes, not
just outputs
The Technology You'll Work With
Our Backend Stack Includes
- Core Technologies: Python, FastAPI, Flask
- Infrastructure: AWS Lambda, ECS, API Gateway, Aurora PostgreSQL, SQS
- Data Processing: AWS Glue, Redshift
- Development Practices: Microservices architecture, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code
Our Product Engineering Principles
- Customer Obsession: We start with the customer and work backward. We don't build
features; we solve customer and business problems.
- Ownership: Teams own outcomes, not just outputs. Success means business impact and
customer delight, not shipping on schedule.
- Simplicity: We choose architectural and product simplicity over complexity. Complex
solutions are harder to maintain, evolve, and explain.
- Data-Driven Decisions: We measure what matters and use data to guide our product
development and business decisions.
- Rapid Learning: We implement quick feedback loops, focus on learning through
experimentation, and value progress over perfection.
- Transparency: We invite visibility and are transparent with where we're spending our time.
