Job Description

The data extractor job includes reviewing medical charts of patients and retrieving pertinent data points then transferring them to a database, or excel file. This work would contribute to medical literature/paper and grant writing.

The position can be in person or remote and requires 10 hours per week collecting data. Remote work does require computer and internet access, ideally with a desktop computer (second monitor may be provided). Training will include HIPPA and research compliance modules a well as sessions with the primary investigator. Check-in meetings with physicians working on the project will be held regularly. Applicants must be able to commit to 10 hours per week with the option to do more if the applicant chooses. This job is eligible for up to a total of up to $9,000 (600 hrs at $15/hr).

Works closely with the primary research physician, medical trainees and other medical (30%) personnel collaborating to complete this project.

Keep research records up-to-date (30%)

Creates and/or modify excel sheets to store data (20%)

Collect data from patient charts to insert in a research registry/database for analysis and publications (10%)

All required qualifications must be included in the application materials

Required Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent

Generates reports to easily view event outcomes (10%)

Proficient in Excel and/or Google Sheets, Word and PowerPoint

Interest in data management and simple coding, e.g. formulas in Excel, or Google Sheets

Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and diplomacy with diverse staff across institutions and organizations

Must be able to commit to at least 10 hours per week (excluding the last two weeks of the calendar year)

Must commit to at least 3 months of work

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a role that required HIPAA compliance

Experience with online survey collection tools such as REDCap, and Google Forms, managing and cleaning data are a strong plus

Experience in data management and/or simple coding, e.g. formulas in Excel, Google Sheets, or Airtable

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Experience with patient chart review or clinical research

Willingness to continue work for 12 months (or until the entire 600 hours have been exhausted)

Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and mindful of deadlines

Pay Range: $15.25 - $20.00; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
