 Business Controller – Open Access Revenue

About the Role:

The Business Controller for Open Access Revenue will be responsible for supporting financial reporting, analysis, and forecasting within Elsevier’s Global STM Journals unit. This position is important for producing management reports and improving financial performance across 3,000 journal titles.

About STM Journals: Global STM Journals (STMJ) at Elsevier employs over 1,000 FTEs and focuses on advancing research through leading journals.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Management Reporting: Deliver accurate monthly updates and assist with weekly forecasts on Open Access revenue. Track issues and collaborate on business and finance dashboards.
  • Planning, Budgeting, and Forecasting: Support forecasting and budgeting, prepare planning tools, ensure quality standards, and integrate accounting changes for business models.
  • Decision Support: Address new reporting needs, advise on financial implications of growth initiatives, and integrate new products with other finance teams.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in business economics or related qualification.
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial finance.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles and proficiency in business intelligence systems.
  • Advanced Excel skills, analytical capabilities, proactive attitude, excellent communication, and independent/teamwork initiative.
  • Knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, and SOX compliance.
  • Fluent in English; Dutch proficiency is a plus.
