Job Title: Media Director
Reports to: SVP of Media
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The media director will be the investment lead and primary client contact for key enterprise accounts at Ad Results Media, working closely with the account strategy team to ensure client success. The media director will also serve as a directorial departmnent head, accountable for overseeing all processes and future growth opportunities of ARM’s planning and buying services. The media director has demonstated knowledge of multiple clients’ unique investment stategies, and has experience managing multi-level planning/buying teams and managing parallel strategy teams. The director is acutely aware of department opportunities and gaps and works with their team of planners and buyers to build solutions for ARM, for clients, and for the industry. They understand the “so what?” of audio-influencer, and are fluent in how audio marketing fits into the bigger picture of a tactical media plan. For an enterprise client, they may be the owner of end-to-end client communications accountable for developing strong client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor and ensuring client satisfaction. Leads the client’s business and translates the client’s marketing objectives into actionable next steps to effectively lead the holistic campaign strategy and development of plans.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Familiarize yourself with company operations and media planning and buying processes, inside and out
• Regularly meeting with client teams to move campaigns forward and provide strategic recommendations to clients, maintaining an expertise on the go-to-market approach for clients under their purvue.
• If assigned to an enterprise client, lead client and team status calls to say in the know about account strategy and tactical activation. **This role is client facing
• Audit agency processes and ensure teams are following best practices. Be accountable for accuracy and detail-orientedness of their team of media planners.
• Coach team members, both performing and under-performing, on ARM agency standards to increase the bar
• Ensure team is maintaining a high level of data integrity (sbms budget matching, budget variables are accurate etc.)
• Work with new business on incoming new accounts to assign and manage planning and buying strategists that can support them
• Lead agency-level conersations with audio networks across podcasts, radio, digital streaming platforms, and YouTube influencers to discuss client campaigns, ask for interest in endorsement, and build plans that come to life.
• Maintain and share a strong working knowledge of audio-influencer channels. Work with the account strategist to showcase how shows come to life in channel recommendations, and position when a show or channel may not be right for a client’s business goals or budget.
• Build and maintain strong network relationships that can leverage connections across multiple clients
• Be accountable for the quality of the opportunity log of all shows discussed, considered, approved, booked, and tested for clients.
• Set up and maintain regular statuses witih parallel departments like audio insights and creative to ensure operations are smooth
• Lead anywhere between 1-3 internal ARM committees related to subject matter expertise, company operations, enrichment, career development, and/or social committees.
DESIRED SKILLS FOR SUCCESS IN THIS POSITION
• At least 5-8 years’ work experience in media, marketing, or advertising
• Demonstrated experience in delegation and growing direct reports
• Strong leadership skills and eagerness to mentor
• Strong written and verbal communication, both for polish in front of key clients, but also to train and lead by example to direct reports
• Ability to understand the bigger picture “so what?” of campaigns being planned and executed while also knowing how tactical details feed into that
• Proficiency in media buying systems, including systems like SBMS, Prisma, etc.
• Deadline-oriented, being able to manage deadlines both with clients and internal stakeholders
• Proficiency in excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions
• Self-starter, industrious and strong critical thinking skills
• Invested in client happiness and success
• Critical thinking specifically within negotiation skills and role/goal of tactical recommendations
• Organized
• Strong attention to detail
