The Opportunity…

We are seeking a Tribal Project Based Installer to join our National Tribal Program team, helping to bring solar energy to tribal communities across the country. The Solar Installer will be responsible for assisting with the installation of photovoltaic (PV) systems on residential and commercial properties, working alongside tribal workforce trainees, volunteers, and Grid Alternatives staff.

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about renewable energy, hands-on work, and engaging with communities to support clean energy solutions. Extensive travel is required, as projects take place in tribal communities across the U.S.

What You Need To Bring To This Role…

Key Responsibilities

  • Solar Installation & Technical Support
  • Assist in the installation of rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV systems in tribal communities.
  • Mount and wire solar panels, inverters, and other system components according to project specifications.
  • Follow all safety procedures, ensuring compliance with OSHA and NEC standards.
  • Troubleshoot and assist in resolving any technical issues that arise during installations.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and job site organization to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Hired CA candidates must be able to pass a screening for drugs that are illegal in the state of California, including: amphetamine, cocaine metabolite, opiates, and PCP.


Where you will sit & the places you may go…

This position may require up to 25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects. Availability to work nights and weekends may be required.

GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Hourly pay commensurate with experience within the pay band ($25-$30 per hour), plus the benefits listed below.
