JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a PostgreSQL DBA (Database Administrator) with over 5 years of experience to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the administration, optimization, and maintenance of our PostgreSQL databases, ensuring their performance, availability, and security. Ensure production systems are available and operating as defined in Service Level Agreements.

Drive incident and outage resolution and communication. Facilitate restoration of service to the production environment. Establish disaster recovery procedures and maintain data retention practices.

Responsibilities:

Database Administration: Manage, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL databases in production, development, and testing environments.
Performance Optimization: Analyze and optimize database performance, including identifying and resolving bottlenecks and performance issues.
Security: Implement and maintain security policies and audits to protect sensitive data.
Backup and Recovery: Design and implement data backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and availability.
Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor database health and performance, performing regular maintenance and adjusting configurations as needed.
Development and Support: Collaborate with development teams to design efficient database schemas and support the integration of new applications.
Upgrade and Migration: Plan and execute database upgrades and migrations to new versions or environments.
Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and policies.
Training and Mentoring: Provide mentoring and training to junior team members and other departments on the use and administration of PostgreSQL.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of studies.
Experience: Mínimum 8 yesar of experience in database administration, with at least 5 years of specific experience in PostgreSQL.

Technical Knowledge:

Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL, including installation, configuration, and administration.
Experience in SQL query tuning and optimization.

Familiarity with database monitoring and management tools such as pgAdmin, Nagios, Zabbix, among others.
