Job description

Our client, a global utility company, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Data Protection Agreement (DPA) Specialist to join their team on a contract basis. In this role, you will be responsible for drafting, negotiating, and finalizing a high volume of vendor DPAs, ensuring compliance with privacy and data security policies. Additionally, candidates should be equipped to assist the client in streamlining and templatizing parts of the DPA process through OneTrust as well. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of GDPR, experience with multi-national companies, and excellent communication skills to collaborate with various internal and external global stakeholders. A JD for this role is a plus but not required. This is anticipated to be a six-month contract, working in a fully remote capacity, directly supporting the CPO.

Responsibilities:

  • Successfully draft, negotiate and bring to execution a high volume of vendor Data Protection Agreements (DPAs), including the cybersecurity portions, using already developed guidelines
  • Create the Annexes to the SCCs for vendor DPAs using data from OneTrust, the Business Process Owner or the vendor
  • Manage the workflow for DPAs and resolve issues as they arise to keep the workflow moving
  • Collaborate with the Data Privacy, Cybersecurity, Legal and other teams to ensure that risks to the company are appropriately identified and escalated
  • Demonstrate high quality drafting, editing and proofing skills
  • Liaise with internal and external clients in the DPA creation and negotiation process
  • Ensure vendor DPAs comply with our privacy and data security policies
  • Advise and assist with questions from internal teams regarding vendor DPAs
  • Participate as a main team member in our project to operationalize the vendor DPAs
  • Help improve the DPA guidelines and educate others in our business about DPAs

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of GDPR and other privacy regulations
  • Experience with privacy issues specific to multi-national companies and cross border transfers
  • Some cybersecurity knowledge
  • Strong experience drafting and negotiating vendor DPAs
  • Good organizational skills to keep control of many DPAs in process simultaneously
  • Professional communication ability when negotiating with vendors
  • Ability to work independently
  • Able to make good independent decisions based on guidelines
  • Strong cybersecurity knowledge is a plus
  • Experience in OneTrust and/or Ariba is a plus
  • Able to influence and drive change is a plus
