What You Will Do
You will be a leading change agent in the software engineering organization. As a quality engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading quality engineering efforts within a Tile by ensuring testing strategy, automation, and governance are aligned with business and technical goals. This role involves collaborating with QA Director, vendors, associate leads, and cross-functional teams to drive quality improvements, oversee testing activities, and provide leadership in test automation practices. As a QA Manager, your travel requirements may include attending team-building meetings and PI planning sessions. Additionally, visits to medical facilities can be incorporated into these meetings to strengthen product planning and team engagement. Given the remote nature of the team, these in-person sessions play a crucial role in fostering alignment and teamwork.
Quality Engineering Overall Responsibilities (QA Manager - Tile/Pods)
- Responsible for working with the vendor and associate leads across the Tile pods to validate, update and monitor the QE strategy.
- Responsible for being the single point of contact who can answer questions about the product and its quality, and needs to work closely with the product managers on understanding the product features and quality requirements
- Accountable for the overall Tile QE activities including the delivery of testing phases, review of the certification of the products for different phases both functional and non-functional testing.
- Functions as an escalation for SDETs and product quality issues.
- Collaborates with xRD, Product, Engineering, DevOps, to drive product goals and outcomes.
Quality Engineering Execution (QA Manager - Tile/Pods)
- Partners with Product , Engineering and SDETs to establish QE KPIs and Metrics (Defect density,Test coverage, Defect rate,Mean time to detect (MTTD),Escaped defects, Defect Resolution Time) in-line with QE guidelines.
- Provides QE estimates and QE plan, strategy for new programs based on automation framework and complexity of the product
- Responsible for driving overall QE data management approach including requesting, provisioning and clean up of data for the testing phases
- Responsible for working with the Release Manager and Delivery Managers on environment usage for testing.
- Accountable for QE teams test execution velocity and planned delivery dates
- Reports on the QE KPI and Metrics on a cadence and identifies areas within the product that are at risk due to quality issues
- Runs the QA triage calls for critical phases like UAT and coordinates the identification of the right team to fix issues and defect priority
- Accountable for meeting the automation percentage for the pod and tile
- Reviewing the quality and coverage of the test cases
- Develops and manages continuous improvement processes within the Tile that are aligned with overall QA strategy to improve quality, consistency, and product satisfaction.
- Creates and champions QE principles of automation and continual improvement to advance product development.
Quality Engineering Thought Leadership(QA Manager - Tile/Pods)
- Participates and contributes in the development of a Ascension GMDx Tile quality engineering strategy, including frameworks, patterns, delivery approach, standards, best practices and blueprints for delivering digital products.
- Drives improvements to the quality engineering maturity by improving speed, quality, and value of software products in areas of automation, performance testing, a11y testing, UI testing, api testing, security testing and other testing related areas
Talent Management (QA Manager - Tile/Pods)
- Staffing & Resource Planning: Ensure the right talent allocation within the Tile, optimizing resources to meet project demands effectively.
- Mentorship & Coaching: Guide QE team members and SDETs, supporting their professional growth in automation, testing best practices, and Playwright integration.
- Check ins and Performance reviews: Conducts the periodic 1:1’s, quarterly checkins and annual performance reviews. And provides support for team and drives associates growth along with performance feedback
- Team Development: Foster a culture of continuous learning and quality ownership, ensuring the team is equipped with modern testing methodologies.
- Vendor & External Collaboration: Assist in evaluating QE-related vendors, ensuring tools and partnerships align with Ascension's quality engineering goals.
Production Support (QA Manager - Tile/Pods)
- Oversee production testing, validate hotfixes, and ensure all issues are reported
- Act as the bridge between QA, Engineering, and Business teams, providing updates
- Validate production changes to prevent quality degradation

Requirements
Education:
- High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree required.
Work Experience
- 3 years of experience required.
- 5 years of experience preferred.
- 1 year of leadership or management experience preferred.
Additional Preferences
Preferred Experience & Knowledge
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field Preferred.
- Experience:
- 7+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in test automation (UI and API) and hands-on familiarity with Playwright, Selenium, Postman, or similar tools.
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong understanding of automation frameworks, scripting languages (JavaScript, Python, or Java), and API testing strategies.
- Experience with CI/CD integration and tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
- Knowledge of performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner) is a plus.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication skills to articulate technical concepts and influence stakeholders effectively.
