About the Role:

The Data Team strives to build out the central nervous system for the company in order to drive better and faster decisions via data. Our charter includes Data Engineering, Data Science, and Analytics & Insights. It is our responsibility to build world class data infrastructure, tooling, governance, dashboards, and ML models to enable company-wide analytics, create insights & models and data products to drive business growth at scale, and to be a model user of Confluent Cloud.

As the Senior Manager, Data Science you will lead and grow a team of high performing Data Scientists supporting our product organization. You will articulate and execute the overall vision & strategy of the Data Science team, including a heavy focus on business partnership, data architecture and insights.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead and mentor a team of data scientists, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
  • Engage with Product & Engineering teams to deliver insights and recommendations to improve Confluent’s products, adoption, and consumption
  • Implement an approach for holistic prioritization to ensure resources are aligned to the highest impact and highest value initiatives 
  • Design and conduct experiments to test hypotheses, validate models, and optimize product performance.
  • Analyze large and complex datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that drive product innovation and customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to senior leadership and other stakeholders through clear and compelling data visualizations and presentations.
  • Foster a data-driven culture within the organization, promoting the use of data and analytics to inform decision-making at all levels.

What You Will Bring:

  • 8+ years of experience in the Data Science or Analytics, with a track record of using data to inform business strategy
  • 3+ years of people management experience 
  • Business acumen with an understanding of GTM, Product, and Sales landscapes
  • Strong ability to communicate cross-functionally, derive requirements and architect; to synthesize, simplify and explain complex problems to different types of audiences, including executives
  • Experience running and building high performing & diverse teams. Prior experience with managing a team across multiple geographies is a plus. 
  • Deep knowledge of modern data stack and infrastructures, i.e., Cloud Data warehouse, data integration tools, Airflow, DBT, Tableau, etc. 
  • Deep knowledge of programming languages, i.e. SQL, Python

This position has an annual estimated salary of $246,600 - $289,800 and a competitive equity package. The actual pay may vary depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location.
