As a hematologist/oncologist at Allina Health, you will join a dedicated team passionate about providing transformative and enhanced care for the many individuals diagnosed with cancer each year in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Our team is committed to the Allina Health Cancer Institute’s vision of creating value by coordinating the full continuum of oncology care—from prevention and detection to treatment and survivorship.

This is a casual position.

Job Description:

Responsible for direct patient care by reviewing patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation. Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families.
Provides medical care for a person diagnosed with cancer.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Direct Patient Care.
    • Oversees the care of oncologic patient medical needs such as but not limited to: hematology, breast cancer, colon cancer, lung and esophageal cancer, leukemia and lymphoma, prostate cancer and gynecologic cancer.
    • Reviews patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.
    • Evaluates, interprets, and coordinates information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care.
    • Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families.
    • Works collaboratively with patients to discuss treatment options and assist in managing the side effects and symptoms of cancer and its treatment.
    • Works collaboratively with patients to improve their health and well-being.
    • Practices in a thoughtful manner including consideration for cultural diversity, individual autonomy and legal responsibilities.
    • Charts in electronic format in accordance with licensure and scope.
    • Actively participates in multidisciplinary team approach to case management.
    • May provide care in an ambulatory clinic, inpatient or outpatient hospital setting.
    • May participate in on-call rotation
  • Quality.
    • Utilizes quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in delivery of patient care, patient outcomes, or work flows.
    • May participate in peer review and quality assurance.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral/Ph.D. level advanced degree in Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or foreign equivalent from an approved school of medicine
  • Completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited Residency training program in Internal Medicine
  • Graduate of an accredited ACGME Oncology fellowship training program


Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed Physician - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
  • ACLS-BLS Tier 3 - Multisource required within 180 Days
  • Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate required upon hire
  • Prescription Monitoring Program required upon hire
  • National Provider Identifier required upon hire


Physical Demands

  • Medium Work*:
  • Lifting weight Up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), Up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Pay Range: $525,000 to $550,000 per year

The pay described reflects the starting base pay range, assuming a full-time FTE. Your starting rate will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).
