Job Summary

We are looking for a Tax Associate with 1–3 years of experience in sales and use tax who is eager to learn, grow, and take on increasing responsibility over time. In this role, you will support core tax functions, including tax return preparation, reconciliations, and exemption certificate management. This is an ideal opportunity for someone early in their tax career who thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, and who is motivated by the challenge of building both technical and operational tax knowledge.

This role offers hands-on exposure to compliance, audits, research, and process improvement initiatives, while working alongside a collaborative and driven team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate sales and use tax filings across multiple states.
  • Manage and verify sales tax exemption certificates.
  • Respond to tax notices with guidance from the tax team.
  • Assist with property and gross receipts tax work papers and schedules.
  • Support tax registrations, powers of attorney, and jurisdictional forms.
  • Perform standard tax accounting tasks, including reconciliations.
  • Document and maintain basic standard operating procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for improved efficiency in tax workflows and reporting.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support business growth and compliance initiatives.

Who You Are

  • You have a solid foundation in tax compliance and are ready to build on it.
  • You’re motivated by the chance to stretch and grow, not just stay where you are.
  • You thrive in fast-paced environments where priorities shift, problems emerge quickly, and your day rarely looks the same as the one before.
  • You’re okay with a little chaos, as long as it means learning something new.
  • You’re open to feedback, enjoy working in a team setting, and want to make a measurable impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  • 1–3 years of sales and use tax compliance experience.
  • Familiarity with Avalara or similar tax software tools (e.g., TaxJar, Vertex).
  • Comfortable working with Excel advanced functions.
  • Proficient with other Microsoft Office Suite tools
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Exposure to other business tax types is a plus, but not required.
