Job Summary

This position will be accountable for the deliverables associated with the financial planning processes with respect to Clear Spring P&C operations.   

Main Accountabilities

  • Work with accounting, underwriting and actuarial to develop annual three year plan as well as quarterly forecasts, by major program, for communication to Board of Directors, AM Best, Senior Management, etc.
  • Ongoing monthly monitoring of expense charges from each MGA and service provider to assure compliance with contract terms
  • Ongoing monthly P&L by program versus plan / forecast analysis
    • Breakdown of performance into key drivers such as earned premium, expenses, losses and new business strain
    • Present explanations for variances to expected results to the Chief Financial Officer
    • For new business strain, estimated “pay back” period as well as anticipated new strain based on current production plans
  • Understand the economics of each program to help analyze the profitability of each relationship

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related major
  • 3 – 5 years of relevant finance experience, preferably in the Property & Casualty insurance industry
  • Strong Excel and financial systems skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as this position interacts with numerous departments within the company
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Perform duties under deadline pressure with multi‐tasking capabilities
  • Perform effectively when changes in priorities, direction and resources occur
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling and forecasting skills
  • Experience with Workday Financials is a plus
