Flipp's Data Analytics team analyzes and interprets data to uncover meaningful patterns, trends, and insights to inform strategic decision-making and drive business value. They act as trusted advisors to stakeholders, driving a deeper understanding of performance through data and insight storytelling. Individuals in this team must have very high context in their respective domains, and are key partners to Data Product Managers and Product Development teams in influencing data collection and defining data-based solutions to domain business problems.

In this role, you will drive the Product analytics vision, mentor your team, and ensure data democratization and trusted analytics guide Flipp’s strategic decisions. You will lead the team in developing and executing measurement and testing strategies to support organizational strategic initiatives and goals.

What you'll get the opportunity to do:
Strategic Measurement and Testing Leadership
  • Strategic Data Leadership: Lead the team to develop a successful and future-proofed data strategy that supports Partner and Product team objectives, ensuring data democratization and analytics are possible for both new and existing use cases. 
  • Insight Generation: Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and business teams to define and prioritize business questions that data can answer to generate actionable insights for Partners and stakeholders. Direct complex data analyses and provide strategic recommendations to optimize business procedures and product roadmap opportunities through data insights.
  • Advanced Impact Analysis: Oversee the execution of Partner or Shopper impact analysis, including evaluation of tooling and process improvement opportunities. Guide your team in presenting findings and translating complex data into compelling visualizations that clearly communicate Flipp’s value proposition to Partners or Shoppers.
  • Data Democratization: Lead efforts to democratize data by guiding the team in the development of advanced data accessibility tools such as prototype pipelines, or dashboards. Empower the team to use data effectively in decision-making processes.
  • Data Literacy and Mentorship: Act as a mentor to elevate data literacy and context exposure across the organization. Guide analysts on core capabilities and facilitate cross-functional collaboration on complex data projects.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as strategic thought partners to stakeholders in Product Management. Partner with Product Leadership to identify and prioritize measurement and testing needs across business segments. Proactively consult on data-backed solutions to answer key stakeholder questions, highlighting areas for improvement in efficiency, innovation, and productivity. Strengthen relationships by directly engaging with stakeholders, gathering requirements, and providing status updates.
Team Leadership and Coaching
  • Team Vision and Goals: Set strategic OKRs and goals for the analytics team, translating them into actionable individual objectives, and establishing cross functional alignment to team roadmaps. 
  • Growth Coaching: Mentor and coach team members, fostering a high-performance culture through personal growth plans and continuous feedback. Develop and maintain team rituals focused on share and reapply tactics and learning and development opportunities. Act as a coach to direct reports, effectively developing the competencies required for effective people and stakeholder management in others. 
Operational Excellence
  • Project Prioritization and Guidance: Guide the team to effectively proritize analytics projects, balancing impact and effort. Provide clear direction on project management, risk resolution, and removing roadblocks. Facilitate cross-functional discussions and guide the team on appropriate escalation paths.
  • Performance Reporting: Lead the creation of integrated performance reporting frameworks, incorporating diverse data sources. Develop weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to hold the team accountable to objectives and KPIs.
  • Efficiency Optimization: Champion the development of automated data accessibility, analytics systems, and processes that improve statistical efficiency and measurement quality. Identify and address measurement gaps, troubleshooting irregularities, and recommending improvements to data backend teams.
What you'll bring to the team:
  • 8+ years of experience in data analytics, business analytics, or a related field, with proven experience in a leadership role.
  • Strong strategic mindset and passion for empirical research, with the ability to drive data-driven decisions across the organization.
  • Expertise in BI tool application and databases (SQL, etc.), with advanced skills in data visualization and presentation.
  • In-depth knowledge of statistics and experience with statistical packages for data analysis (Excel, SPSS, SAS, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of ML/AI applications in business analytics
  • Exceptional ability to refine business questions to address specific problems concisely and effectively.
  • Skilled at presenting complex data insights in a clear, impactful manner to inform and guide business decision-makers.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team development skills, with a track record of coaching and mentoring data analysts to achieve high performance.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to build relationships and work effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Proven experience in driving automation and efficiency in data processes, with a focus on enhancing data quality and accessibility.
  • Ability to synthesize complex data sets into actionable insights that drive strategic business outcomes.
