As a Tax Manager, you will be supporting execution of and delivery on our tax strategy. You will power our tax operations, special projects and initiatives. You will be expected to utilize your in-depth knowledge, business acumen and experience to solve complex tax issues, and apply creative approaches to improve our processes. You will operate independently and have a significant degree of judgement and discretion while addressing competing priorities and deadlines. The Tax Manager will partner and collaborate with finance and other business teams across organization as well as with our service providers. This role reports to Senior Manager, Tax.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Prepare quarterly and annual ASC 740 provision calculations using OneSource Tax Provision as well as related SEC disclosure and internal reporting packages
- Prepare federal, state, provincial, and local corporate income, franchise, sales and use tax returns and related workpapers, schedules and disclosures. Preparation includes gathering, tax analysis and coordination with organization finance and other business teams as well as service providers in respect of required information
- Prepare calculations of estimated payments and extensions, including required tax filings
- Maintain U.S. and Canadian tax related balance sheet accounts, including payable and deferred tax asset and liability accounts
- Maintain schedules, workplans and other documentation pertaining to tax department workstreams, projects, and deliverables
- Assist with identification and resolution of tax issues, including preparation of tax technical and ASC 740 research, and due diligence support for M&A transactions
- Contribute to taxability assessments of new products and services
- Assist with negotiation and review of commercial contracts from tax perspective
- Contribute to identification of process enhancement and standardization opportunities, planning, developing budgets and business cases for projects, and their implementation
- Adhere to tax department and broader organization policies and guidelines
- Maintain SOX documentation and assist with addressing SOX compliance and related internal and external audit requests
- Assist with managing and addressing tax correspondence, including notices, identifying and estimating tax exposures, leading negotiations and resolving tax audits
- Monitor and document impact of changes in tax laws, regulations, and accounting standards on tax and business operations as well as the organization’s tax reporting
- Contribute to resolution of complex tax technical issues arising from changes and growth in the business, assist with identification of tax related risks and planning opportunities, and presentation of recommendations
- Coordinate with and provide tax support to organization finance and other business teams, including resolution of tax related vendor and customer requests
- Demonstrate organizational and interpersonal skills to maintain and further propel our collaborative and open communication environment
- Participate in and contribute to organization’s cross-functional projects and initiatives
This is what you will need to succeed in your role:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Economics required. CPA, IRS EA, or Master's degree in Taxation required
- 5+ years of experience with a Big 4 firm or a medium-to-large corporate tax department of a publicly traded company, in progressive responsibility roles, primarily dedicated to preparing and/or reviewing ASC 740 provisions
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, technical proficiency and practical application of ASC 740 in context of M&A transactions
- Proficiency in OneSource Tax Provision is required
- Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state tax laws and regulations
- Experience in dealing with tax authorities and resolving tax audits effectively
- Passion to challenge the status quo, drive change and efficiencies respectfully, and act as a catalyst to innovation within organization
- Experience with implementation of tax systems, tools, and process improvements and standardization
- Ability to work independently, on multiple projects/deadlines simultaneously, with attention to detail and pride in their deliverable
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with ability to articulate thoughts clearly and interact with all stakeholders, both internal and external effectively

$80,100.00-98,100.00
