About the Role

Cars Commerce builds solutions for automotive dealerships, manufacturers, and consumers. Our driving force is to deliver one platform to simplify everything about buying and selling cars.  Our platform enables dealerships and OEMs with innovative technical solutions and data-driven intelligence to better reach and influence ready-to-buy shoppers, increase inventory turn and gain market share.

We are seeking a talented Senior DevOps Engineer to join our growing development team.  In this role you will be leading projects, collaborating with your team, and raising operational standards.  You will be instrumental in helping us design and maintain systems that deliver value to our customers. You’ll lead by example, elevating your team as they implement and maintain systems. You are passionate about building and automating efficient software delivery pipelines. You thrive in collaborative environments, working alongside developers and operations teams.

This role is positioned within our Dealer Inspire Website DevOps team and works closely with the rest of the Website Engineering Team and Cloud Engineering teams at Cars Commerce.

Responsibilities
  • Automation: Design and implement continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to automate the build, test, and deployment of software applications.

  • Infrastructure : Provision, configure, and manage infrastructure using infrastructure as code (IaC) tools and cloud platforms.

  • Tooling : Evaluate, implement, and maintain DevOps tools to streamline development workflows and improve efficiency (e.g., version control systems, containerization technologies, configuration management tools).

  • Security Champion: Integrate security best practices into the development and deployment process.

  • Monitoring Mastermind: Develop and implement monitoring solutions to identify and troubleshoot issues within the IT infrastructure.

  • Collaboration Catalyst: Work closely with developers, security engineers, and IT operations to foster a collaborative DevOps culture.

  • Problem-solving Pro: Troubleshoot complex technical issues and develop innovative solutions to optimize the software delivery process.

  • Incrementally breakdown and manage work for yourself and at times the team to complete our highest priority projects.

  • Recognize and demonstrate the ability to see how day to day work maps to the big picture company goals and adapt work accordingly.

  • Partner with stakeholders for requirements and prioritization; deliver work to completion.

  • Document, build, and support cloud infrastructure for new and existing applications within AWS.

  • Build operational maturity and readiness into team culture.

  • Establish and document standards and procedures for team and organization wide initiatives.

  • Build and maintain monitoring and dashboards to drive data driven discovery and monitoring of systems.

  • Build tooling to proactively detect problems and mechanisms to solve them before they become emergencies.

  • Proactively plan and execute routine maintenance and auditing.

  • On-call support of website application and associated services.

  • Design, document, and maintain our cloud infrastructure via Infrastructure-as-Code

  • Improve operational tasks via automation

Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of combined developer and DevOps/SRE related experience in CI/CD tooling, scripting, and automation, experience working in a Cloud Native environment (AWS) 

  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles and methodologies (CI/CD, IaC, Agile development)

  • Demonstrated experience programming with at least one language such as NodeJs, Elixir, Golang, Java, Python, Golang, Ruby, SQL

  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and experience with DevOps tools (e.g., Git, Docker, Kubernetes)

  • Experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP) - AWS preferred

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Extensive experience using modern monitoring tools (Cloudwatch, DataDog, etc) and establishing metrics, monitoring, alarming, and dashboards 

  • Demonstrated experience with AWS infrastructure services (e.g. EKS, OpenSearch, S3, RDS, API gateway, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Route 53, VPC) 

  • Demonstrated experience with container orchestration solutions (Docker/Kubernetes) especially pertaining to CI/CD pipelines

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, related degree, or equivalent practical experience required

  • Ability and willingness to manage ambiguity i.e., help shape solutions and prioritize deliverables to align with the Company’s vision

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience implementing CI/CD, monitoring, and relevant tools supporting high traffic (millions of daily visits) applications and services running on AWS

  • Strong track record of delivering results for large scale systems

  • Strong mentoring skills

  • Ability to be a force multiplier for the team that shares knowledge and supports skill growth across the team

  • Certifications in DevOps or related technologies (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional)

Salary Range

$115,300.00-144,150.00
