Job description

Responsible for developing and leading Magellan peer support programs and guiding the role, knowledge, practice, and activities of peer support specialists within the Care Management Center (CMC) or Health Plan. This position helps to oversee the research, planning, implementation, and monitoring of effective delivery of recovery support services and training of Peer Support Specialists within the community. This position serves as an advocate for recovery and resiliency principles and practices across the CMC, in the provider network, and in the community.
  • Builds partnerships with individuals, families, youth, and key stakeholders to promote recovery, resiliency and wellness and remove barriers that affect service delivery or member satisfaction
  • Provides technical assistance and consultation to CMC/HP senior staff and members customers regarding the development and implementation of peer-run recovery services, including peer support services. Research administrative and reimbursement policies that promote and eliminate barriers to peer-run services. Conducts member focus groups to determine strengths and opportunities for improvement at CMCs/HPs
  • Establishes structure and mechanisms to increase member and family voice in areas of leadership, service delivery and decision making including on committees and boards
  • Administers and oversees pilot programs that promote peer-run and recovery initiatives. Assist in replicating innovative programs across provider agencies. Advocates for service environments that are supporting, welcoming and recovery-oriented by implementing recovery oriented and trauma Informed service delivery approaches and other initiatives
  • Provides support, training, and supervision to peer support specialists.
  • Assists leadership and other CMC/HP staff involved in transforming provider network to be aligned with principles of recovery, resiliency, and wellness. Assists with developing ongoing training programs for Magellan staff as well as for staff at network provider agencies, including on-line training modules, conferences, etc.
  • Keeps informed of national, regional, and local trends and developments regarding recovery, wellness, and peer-directed initiatives. Serves as Magellan’s key liaison to local mental health advocacy groups; works closely with these agencies on major campaigns
  • Participates in CMC cross-departmental workgroups, committees, and meetings to ensure a recovery and resiliency-oriented approach
  • Assists in developing and implementing locally culturally competent recovery-oriented programs, and conduct outreach to historically underserved populations.

Responsibilities

Must be a self-identified person in recovery who is a current or former user of mental health/substance use services and can relate to others who are now using those services.
4+ years living with mental health/substance use recovery, peer support specialist. 3+ years of supervisory experience leading programs, projects, or people.
Certified CPRS/CPS/CPSS/CRPS/PRSS, Peer Specialist.
Must obtain within one year of hire NCPS/NCPRSS// National Peer Support Credential.
Membership or leadership positions in peer support advocacy organizations, self-help organizations, associations,, or technical assistance centers.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Product Suite.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and effective verbal and written communication skills. 
Must be able to work effectively, independently and in a team, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment to meet the demands of the organization. 
Knowledge of behavioral health and community systems, wellness strategies, resiliency and recovery principles, practices, and tools, such as Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAP), wraparound process, and community-based peer, family and parent support organizations and services.

Salary Minimum:

$64,285

Salary Maximum:

$102,855

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
