Network Security Engineer

Hybrid / 2 days per month in Dartford, Kent

50-55k Base + Excellent Benefits


Our dynamic and ambitious client is a leading independent logistics operator providing comprehensive supply chain solutions. Recognised a Sundays Times Top track 250 company, they are well placed to expand upon their global network. To further protect their digital landscapes, they have an immediate remote/hybrid opening for a Network Security Engineer.


Network Security Engineer responsibilities:


  • Deploy, configure, and maintain network and security platforms, including routers, switches, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and cloud-based technologies.
  • Manage Cisco-based network security, including firewalls, VPNs, and NAC solutions, ensuring peak performance and reliability.
  • Monitor and analyze network traffic to optimize efficiency, troubleshoot performance issues, and mitigate potential threats.
  • Implement and manage secure remote access solutions, including VPN technologies, to ensure seamless and protected connectivity.
  • Oversee PKI management, including certificate issuance, renewal, and revocation.
  • Identify, recommend, and deploy network security enhancements to strengthen infrastructure resilience.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including rollout plans, system configurations, and BAU (Business-as-Usual) support processes.
  • Collaborate with IT, Cybersecurity teams, and third-party vendors to optimize security policies, ensure compliance, and uphold best practices.


Network Security Engineer skills, traits, and experience:


  • Proven experience in deploying, administering, and maintaining network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless solutions).
  • Strong knowledge of IDS/IPS technologies to detect and prevent network threats.
  • Expertise in managing security protocols, encryption standards, and access control across network environments.
  • Hands-on experience in monitoring network traffic, diagnosing performance issues, and optimizing network efficiency.
  • Skilled in securing cloud-based applications and platforms, ensuring compliance and robust security posture.
  • Ability to implement and manage VPN solutions for secure remote access and connectivity.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify threats, resolve issues, and enhance network security.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to work cross-functionally with IT teams, management, and external vendors.


Preferred Certifications & Tools:


  • Industry certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent.
  • Experience with Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper, Fortinet, or other network security platforms.
