Position Summary:
The primary role of the Associate Director HEOR is to lead the Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) strategy and tactical execution for SyfovreTM (pegcetacoplan) in Geographic Atrophy. In this role, the individual will ensure the successful implementation of HEOR tactics through appropriate research design, project management, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of HEOR evidence and communication of appropriate HEOR key value messages for SyfovreTM. This role requires the individual to collaborate cross-functionally with individuals and teams in Medical Affairs, Value Access and Policy, Marketing, Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, and other allied functions in demonstrating and leveraging the HEOR value proposition of SyfovreTM. In addition, this role may support other marketed or pipeline products and indications as needed.
This position reports to the Director of HEOR and resides within the US Medical Affairs team.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Lead, develop and execute a cross-functionally aligned strategic and tactical HEOR plan to support SyfovreTM (pegcetacoplan)
- Conceptualize, implement, and manage HEOR projects from inception to completion for all phases of research, including publication, dissemination, and presentation
- Provide strategic input and recommendations to clinical development programs by identifying study design elements to deliver evidence needed for payer submissions including identifying appropriate target patient populations, comparators, and study endpoints which include patient-reported outcomes (PROs)
- Finalize HEOR input into protocols, statistical analysis plans, and study reports for data collection and analysis for filing and pricing/reimbursement submissions
- Develop and update economic models and analysis to understand pricing thresholds and key value drivers to optimize the value proposition and defend price and access
- Strong knowledge and hands on experience in conducting comparative effectiveness analysis, ITCs, cost-effectiveness, and burden of illness using a combination data from internal clinical trials and external primary or secondary data sources
- Design and conduct robust retrospective analyses and literature review to support burden of disease, epidemiological information, treatment patterns, and total costs of care
- Contribute to the development of affiliate tools including value dossiers, models, and calculators for submission to reimbursement authorities and formulary committees
- Conduct and communicate patient and caregiver qualitative and quantitative research
- Develop a comprehensive and compelling HEOR publication strategy, in alignment with the scientific communication strategy to appropriately disseminate the generated HEOR evidence
- Develop and update payer customer-facing value demonstration tools that meet regulatory standards and train the field team(s) for effective delivery
Education, Registration & Certification:
- Master's Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., health economics, medicine, pharmacy, public health, epidemiology) required
- PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., health economics, medicine, pharmacy, public health, epidemiology) preferred
Experience:
- PhD with 4+ years of relevant industry experience, or MS, MPH, MBA, PharmD, MD with 6+ years of relevant industry experience
- Understanding of the dynamics of the US health care systems and funding pathways. Experience in dealing with pricing, reimbursement in US is a plus. Knowledge and experience in EU HTA is preferred but not required
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Publication track record with experience in communicating HEOR research in peer-reviewed journals
- Ability to work with large retrospective databases including reimbursement claims databases, electronic medical records, and other data platforms
- Capability to work independently on all assigned tasks and projects
- Creative thinker, ability to develop innovative solutions within a complicated reimbursement environment.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and make sound health economic and outcomes research decisions
- Results oriented with excellent analytic and collaboration skills combined with robust project management capabilities
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to execute and deliver internal and external projects within timelines
- Strong presentation and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability in participating and leading cross-functional teams, excellent skills in leading without authority, and negotiating and managing through influence
- Ability to manage complexity and ambiguity in a highly matrixed work environment
- Experience in internal/external educational training on interpretation of HEOR data and resulting tools, third party payor support and KOL management
