Key responsabilities:

  • Research and learn about emerging security threats and trends, aiding in the development of guidelines and reference architectures.

Job description

This is a full time, remote Summer Internship that can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada.

Calix is looking for a Summer intern to join our Product Security team. In this role, you will be part of a unique and award-winning internship program within the company. The program provides the opportunity to learn new skills through training and on the job learning. The duration of the program is expected to be 90 days.

During the internship, you will join our high performing Product Security Team which drives secure development of next generation networking and SaaS products. The successful candidate for this position will assist with various tasks relating the Secure Systems Development Lifecycle, in accordance with their academic focus areas and experience.

Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Participate in threat modelling sessions to help identify potential security risks and mitigations. 
  • Validate and triage reported vulnerabilities and coordinate with development teams for remediation. 
  • Present current security topics and best practices to Security Champions and other stakeholders. 
  • Aid in the development of guidelines and reference architectures based on commonly requested guidance. 
  • Research and learn about emerging security threats and trends. 

Qualifications: 

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate college degree program in Cybersecurity or Computer Science. Preference will be given to students who have at least completed their sophomore year and who have previous internship or work experience.
  • Strong in networking as well as security fundamentals across all layers of the OSI model. 
  • Understanding of IoT/embedded systems and C/C++ is preferred. 
  • Knowledge of cloud security fundamentals is a plus.  
  • Possible project opportunities for a candidate specializing in Big Data and security analytics.  
  • Curious, motivated, and passionate about security and learning new skills. 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.  
  • Works well in both individual and team roles. 
  • Able to work for the complete summer break (May - August or June - September).

Compensation will vary based on geographical location (see below) within the United States. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's location of residence and multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, and education.

San Francisco Bay Area Only:

27.60 - 34.50 USD Hourly

All Other Locations:

24.00 - 30.00 USD Hourly
