Buildout is a family of CRE software products and services that help the best brokers to find, win, market, and transact properties to maximize their deal efforts and maximize wins. Our core belief is that successful commercial real estate is broker-led, but tech-enabled. That we play a critical role in maximizing the brokers time to focus on what they do best. As a result, Buildout has become the not-so-secret weapon for more than 150,000+ brokers and investors. Ultimately, we exist to serve the entire CRE industry and because of that unwavering focus, all the best brokers use Buildout. Learn more about who we are, what we do, and why we’re changing the face of CRE tech on our website: https://buildout.com/

The Opportunity

The Visual Design team delivers best in-class marketing solutions to our customers, from bringing their existing brand to life to developing new materials that help elevate their overall marketing strategy. We’re looking for a full-time designer to join the Visual Design team, one with an ability to think creatively through problems and work across a variety of coding languages and marketing platforms to find innovative solutions for our customers.

You should be comfortable explaining your thought process and be able to receive feedback from your customers and your peers. You will be a part of a diverse and driven team that challenges each other to create and maintain the Buildout-quality marketing standards our customers have come to expect across emails, websites, and documents.

How You’ll Contribute at Buildout
  • Use Buildout’s proprietary tools and coding language to configure, customize and maintain document, email, and web templates to align with customers’ business needs

  • Partner with other teams at Buildout, primarily those in the CX Department, to understand customers’ goals in order to deliver timely marketing solutions within Buildout’s platform

  • Support our pre-sale and post-sale retention processes, which can include:

    • Getting on calls with our Sales team and prospective customers to discuss the capabilities of the application or their specific brand needs

    • Consult with current customers on how to best execute their latest brand vision with an eye toward simplicity, scalability and Buildout’s best practices

  • Provide proactive solutions to our customers’ marketing problems that help ensure their long-term success using the application

  • Be welcomed into the innovative and collaborative Buildout team. Get to know your teammates and work in sync to deliver a world-class, end-to-end customer experience

  • Make mistakes, improve for the next time, and develop enviably thick-skin from these experiences to propel you through the rest of your career, at Buildout and beyond

  • Take the work, but not yourself, too seriously

What You’ll Bring to Buildout
  • 2+ years of experience working as a Graphic Designer, Web Developer, or Email Designer

  • Experience in CSS, HTML, and JavaScript code languages on an established platform

  • Experience or knowledge with MJML is strongly preferred

  • A portfolio of varied design projects which demonstrates a strong eye for design and ability to adhere to a customer’s brand standards

  • Empathy and solutions-oriented. You’re able to put yourself in the customers’ shoes, understand their unique needs and goals, and offer sensible, scalable solutions

  • Willingness to engage with customers directly as-needed to:

    • Reduce thrash and help resolve problems quickly

    • Convey complex ideas in simple terms

    • Problem-solve unique brand and marketing needs

    • Support other, internal teams’ ability to service our customers

  • Ability to prioritize your work as an individual contributor and as a collaborative part of a team

  • Commercial Real Estate experience is nice to have but not required

  • SaaS or tech-industry experience is nice to have but not required

  • Jira / Atlassian knowledge is nice to have but not required.

We know there are great candidates who won’t check all of these boxes, and we also know you might bring important skills that we haven’t considered. If that’s you, don’t hesitate to apply and tell us about yourself.

We are HQ’d in Chicago, but operate fully remotely. As such, this is a remote role open across most of the US. The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $70,000 depending on your experience.

Perks & Benefits

This program includes:

  • Impactful insurance and benefit options, including 100% coverage of employee dental and vision insurance premiums, HSA seed, company-paid STD, LTD,  life insurance, and telemedicine, and a wellness benefit of $400/year.

  • Policies that support a healthy work/life harmony, including Flexible PTO, 14 paid company holidays, paid parental leave, and give back days

  • 401(k) with 4% company match and immediate vesting

  • A fully remote work culture with a monthly remote work reimbursement ($600/year) to support our distributed team and an annual, in-person company kickoff

  • Challenging problems to solve with a committed and supportive team who are invested in your growth and development

  • A wonderfully quirky culture where you’re encouraged to bring your whole self to work
