About us

Owkin is building the first universal AI Operating System called K to lay the foundation for Biological Artificial Superintelligence (BASI). This OS integrates a suite of AI agents that decode complex biology, accelerate research, and dramatically increase productivity. Acting as copilots, Owkin K agents will automate drug discovery and diagnostics and power next-gen pharma companies.

Owkin’s OS will be powered by the world’s largest federated multimodal patient data network, a robotized lab, leading AGI technologies, and cutting-edge multimodal foundation models and LLMs.

About the role:

As Software Engineer in K product team, you will be a the heart of our mission to accelerate data-driven biomedical discoveries at scale. You will contribute to building and maintaining a virtual assistant system for Biomedical researchers that uses AI Engineering to explore public biology knowledge and Owkin proprietary data in order to power drug discovery decisions.

In particular, you will:

Design, implement, and maintain microservices including large language models components (agents, tools, retrieval-augmented generation) and visualisation capabilities for omics (genomics, transciptomics, proteomics) data
Contribute to the evolution of the architecture to support deeper omics analyses and enhance reasoning capabilities
Collaborate with product managers, engineers and scientists to implement features that benefit drug discovery practitioners
Support and improve our CI/CD pipelines, development workflows
Participate in incident response to ensure high availability and reliability

Position is based in our Paris or Nantes offices or remotely in France.

Required qualifications / experience:

Significant experience as a software engineer working on production applicative stack
Experience with a microservices architecture deployed in a cloud-based infrastructure
Demonstrated attention to quality and software engineering processes, including observability and security: we run what we build
Experience with python
Full professional proficiency in English: our team is distributed across Europe

Preferred qualifications/bonus:

Experience in building AI Engineering / LLM-based systems
Experience in building machine-learning based systems
Familiarity with omics data or other medical data modalities
