JOB SUMMARY
The Group Controller is responsible for providing oversight on all financial related tasks related to the all aspects of finance and accounting for designated services lines, including but not limited to, working with month-end, A/R, A/P, budgets and projections, financials, management reports, sales tax, reconciliations. As a leader in the Accounting and Finance department, the Group Controller will encourage innovative ideas that are sound and progressive, challenge the status quo, and support creativity in their area of responsibility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures accuracy of accounting, financial reporting, and general ledger activity of designated service lines in the company
- Manages and performs monthly and year-end close process and financial statements (internal and external)
- Prepares or reviews journal entries, reconciliation of general ledger accounts, cash management, etc
- Participates in annual financial statement audit and internal and external reporting requirements
- Serves as the liaison between the service lines and the third-party auditors, tax consultants, and Lenders
- Assists with development, documentation, and maintenance of business processes and accounting policies
- Identifies opportunities for process improvements, internal controls, and optimization of business processes that impact the service lines and support future growth
- Collaborates closely with cross-functional teams for data gathering and process verification.
- Provides management with information vital to the decision-making process
- Manages the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of service line business results
- Leverages technology to help streamline processes and tasks and identify opportunities for software and process improvements that scale with increased volume
- Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed
- Assists with regulatory reporting, including tax planning, legal, and compliance
- Assists with compliance of all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting
- Contributes to the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
ROLE QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- At least five (5) years of experience in accounting
- Proficiency with accounting software and experience with software system implementation
- Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Creative thinker who can bring innovative ideas and approaches to solve issues
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Effective problem solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations
- Team leadership abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including high level of proficiency with Excel
PREFERRED
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation
- Prior experience with NetSuite
- Prior experience in Mergers and Acquisitions

- Work is performed indoors in a typical office environment - not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
