Sustainability External Affairs Legal Risk & Compliance (SEALRC) – Sustainability, Policy & Engagement develops and implements Telstra's sustainability strategy, and manages Telstra's public policy and engagement activities.

Focus of the Role

  • As a Sustainability Specialist – Programs, you will contribute to key aspects of Telstra’s Sustainability program, including: Support the Sustainability Principal in stakeholder engagement for SEALRC including arranging forums for engagement with stakeholders.
  • Executing internal and external programs and continuous improvement initiatives to support the delivery of Telstra’s Digital Inclusion strategy and overall business objectives
  • Support negotiations, relationship management, project management, invoice management, contract management, delivery and risk management with external partners contributing to our Digital Inclusion strategy
  • Collaborate and engage with internal stakeholders to understand their business and to advance Telstra’s Digital Inclusion and Accessibility requirements through an integrated, value-add approach
  • Support partnerships with delivery specialists in Digital Inclusion, Domestic and Family Violence and Accessibility
  • Support Accessibility reporting
  • Develop compliance programs underpinning the Sustainability CoE’s policy responsibilities, including driving greater maturity in embedding these programs across the business and coaching functional areas to understand and deliver on their compliance responsibilities
  • Provide support to the reporting team in the delivery of the Sustainability Report and Modern Slavery Act statement

What You’ll Do

  • Manage the relationship between internal and external program delivery partners for our Digital Inclusion Program and Accessibility and Inclusion Action Plan
  • Support project management of Digital Inclusion program deliverables with delivery partners
  • Manage invoices for payment to external vendors
  • Support contract negotiations and contract management with delivery partners
  • Support the broader Social Responsibility team to deliver on its objectives
  • Engage with business stakeholders and cooperate closely with peers to deliver digital inclusion targets
  • Oversee the collection of data in relation to the programs and help to convert data into actionable business insights, including the impact the programs are delivering
  • Identify continuous improvement of programs and systems to improve efficiency, streamline reporting and improve accuracy
  • Support development of the digital assets for the Sustainability team
  • Be aware of trends in industry, identify emerging risks and opportunities related to digital inclusion.
  • Help to tell Telstra’s Sustainability story both within and external to Telstra
  • Contribute to the preparation of internal reporting requirements, including working across Telstra to collect and report on data
  • Contribute to Telstra’s Sustainability reporting suite
  • Contribute to social inputs to customer tenders and queries on supplier engagement
  • Support other social program deliverables and activities as directed.

About You

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in arts, law, (social) science, business, or engineering.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills/ experience.
  • Critical thinker and able to analyse data.
  • Excellent ability to influence to achieve a result, and attention to detail
  • Demonstrate high degree of self-drive and able to work well both alone with high autonomy and as part of the team.
  • Ability to readily adjust to changing circumstances, prioritize tasks as needed, take on new responsibilities when necessary, and readily learn new skills to meet evolving demands, all while maintaining a positive attitude towards change.

  • Familiarity with broader digital inclusion, social impact and other social responsibility programs
  • Experience working on program implementation to deliver customer and business outcomes.

  • Proven communication skills with the ability to write and communicate across a range of formats and audiences.
  • Commercial acumen, understanding business imperatives and drivers, and the ability to develop compelling opportunities as a commercial lever.
