This is a remote role that aligns with Eastern Standard Time. It is a Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00 PM schedule.
This is a senior position within the compliance department that requires interaction with clients on a regular basis as well as acting as a resource for internal offices. This will require the ability to handle sensitive matters in a timely and professional manner. The primary responsibility is answering various regulatory import compliance questions from internal and external customers, such as HTS classification, applicable rates of duty, FTA / STP eligibility, etc., and providing compliance guidance to Deringer’s operations and customers.
Job Responsibilities:
Acts as a resource to internal and external clients. Provides import compliance guidance.
Maintains and develops client relationships.
Determines advanced U.S. HTS classification and all applicable duties and taxes on imported goods using the HTSUS, and other relevant resources.
Researches and uses classifications tools such as, but not limited to, CROSS website for CBP’s binding rulings, explanatory notes, HTSUS, drawings, spec sheets, and other materials needed to classify products.
Researches and analyzes products to support clients and Deringer’s port offices to be able to assist with compliance related questions, resolve issues and prevent violations.
Researches and assists with Free Trade Agreement inquiries (such as USMCA, etc.) and works with port offices and clients on Free Trade Agreement claims.

Advanced classification and research experience
5+ year(s) of customs brokerage experience
