Job description

Overview of Position

This job is responsible for assisting in leading a variety of Premium Accounting Services and accounting process/controls improvement projects; analyzing work flow and guiding decisions including but not limited to those processes & controls needed for billing systems transformation projects.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

  • The scope of responsibilities for this role will span the Premium Accounting Services organization at Assurant and will require working collaboratively with various groups and teams across the company to drive change across LOB’s, IT  & Operations

  • Help create, implement, monitor and manage ongoing projects/initiatives across Premium Accounting Services

  • Evaluate & prioritize projects

  • Track projects and provide on-going status reporting and updates

  • Provide analysis & guidance to enable process improvements to key accounting processes while ensuring compliance

  • Identify opportunities to more strongly leverage technology to create efficiencies, increase consistency, minimize manual touchpoints and improve controls in billing and payment processes

  • Provide process & operational support to Premium Accounting Services systems & operations strategy; help scope and guide projects

  • Provide process guidance & support to implementation of ERP platform

  • Identify, recommend and support implementation of process improvements to address in-scope manual processes & efforts to reduce over reliance on same

  • Prepare & present updates to leadership team and key stakeholders

  • Create templates and tracking metrics qualitatively and quantitively where appropriate

  • Assist in documenting new process controls & processes

  • Identify and test use cases for prototyping robotic process automation (RPA) when applicable

Responsibility for the work of others

  • This position is an individual contributor but will manage projects and guide activities of others

Financial Responsibility

  • Help identify areas if/when projects go off track, identifying and recommending solutions

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • Bachelor’s or commensurate degree or equivalent experience in Accounting

  • 7 years experience with increasing responsibility in accounting, or other similar accounting areas

  • Strong communication skills

  • Experience managing projects on-time and budget

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Strong accounting background

  • Understanding of U.S. G.A.A.P., management reporting and planning/forecasting processes

  • Strong financial analysis skills

  • Strong business and financial acumen

  • Experience designing and implementing billing process workflows

  • Knowledge of designing, defining project scope, metrics and deliverables and timing

  • Understanding of billing systems technology & experience in implementation of technology projects

  • Project mgmt., advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio,

  • Experience in ERP and billing technology applications

  • Ability to synthesize large, complex data sets, complex Billing & Payment issues

  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization in a collaborative manner

  • Strong attention to detail; ability to manage and drive change

Pay Range:

$86,000.00 - $143,700.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
